JAY-Z Drops 4:44, Reveals Details of Relationship With Beyonce

Title track discusses couple's nearly 15 year relationship

June 30, 2017

It has arrived! The highly anticipated JAY-Z album 4:44 dropped today and it is all that we've hoped for and more! The highly introspective record addresses so many of the rumors and speculation that came up ever since Beyoncé's Lemonade dropped last year, including that elevator fight with Bey's sister, Solange, amid rumors of infidelity.

On the title track, Jay raps, "And if my children knew, I don't even know I would do / If they ain't look at me the same / I probably die with all the shame / 'You did what with who?' / What good is a ménage á trois when you have a soulmate? / 'You risked that for Blue?'." Hov also mentions the twins when he spits, "I apologize often womanize / Took for my child to be born / See through a woman's eyes / Took for these natural twins to believe in miracles / Took me too long for this song / I don't deserve you."

Some other incredible revelations we're getting from 4:44 include Jay telling the world that his mother, Gloria Carter, is a lesbian. On the track "Smile," Hov says "Mama had four kids, but she's a lesbian / Had to pretend so long that she's a thespian" and "Had to hide in the closet, so she medicate / Society shame and the pain was too much to take / Cried tears of joy when you fell in love / Don't matter to me if it's a him or her / I just wanna see you smile through all the hate / Marie Antoinette, baby, let 'em eat cake."

Jay also goes after Kayne West a little bit on the opening track "Kill Jay Z" when he says "But you ain't the same, this ain't KumbaYe / But you got hurt because you did cool by 'Ye."
