Back in May Big Sean joined Mtvs Sway, where he chatted about rappers who were duplicating his “Supa Dupa” punch line flow (aka hashtag rap). In an earlier interview with AllHipHop, Drake—who credits Sean with introducing him to the style, made popular on tracks like “Forever”—called out Ludacris, in particular, for an unsuccessful attempt at copying the style on the single “My Chick Bad” ("Comin' down the street like a parade/Macy's!") Luda clearly hasn’t forgotten the jab, because on the new single “Bada Boom” from his 1.21 Gigawatts: Back To the First Time mixtape the ATL rapper takes a few shots at Big Sean and Drake.
Although Ludacris doesn’t drop names on the track, it’s not difficult to figure out who he’s aiming at, especially since he references the “My Chick Bad” controversy.
"I'm the truth in this booth and you ni--as all h-es," Luda spits. "Counterfeit rappers say I'm stealing they flows, but I can't steal what you never made up b-tch/Y'all some duplicate rap cloning ni--as/I manufacture you h*es put on your makeup b-tch. ... Let me explain, nothing's been new since Big Daddy Kane/Flows'll get recycled, passed around to different names.Y'all get a couple hit records, make some noise and have the nerve to start shouting?/Who's gassing 'em?/ ... May not like the way I used it, but you know you ain't invent it, boy/Do your research before you make a claim so bogus that's disrespecting pioneers in the game. 'My Chick Bad' went platinum, still winning m-th-rf-ck-r!"
“History Lesson,” another cut from the mixtape, is also a literal history lesson, featuring clipped lines from rappers such as Method Man and Cam’ron, demonstrating earlier uses of the “Punch Line” flow.
On Wednesday morning (November 16), Luda spoke with MTV's Sway, where he briefly addressed the drama. “I don’t start these things," he said.
I finish them."
Give the Kardashians credit for one thing: at least they can laugh at themselves.
With the world still buzzing over the news that Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from husband Kris Humphries after just 72 days of marriage, "Saturday Night Live" chimed in with their satirical take on the failed nuptials. It's not very kind to the Kardashian clan, but at least one was able to find the humor in it.
"Ha! I just saw the SNL skit they did and I could not stop laughing.... LOL" Khloe Kardashian tweeted late Sunday night. Responding to a fan who applauded her appreciation for the skit, Khloe wrote, "u have 2learn2 laugh at urself life is 2short." She then added, "Its SNL... They r supposed 2make fun Its not who we are&I know that."
With Kristen Wigg as an opportunistic Kris Jenner and Nasim Pedrad as Kim, the skit pitches an ad for the TV sequel to the big money wedding, "A Fairytale Divorce." It's not all that kind, painting the sisters as less than intelligent -- and portraying Khloe's husband Lamar Odom as downright confused by the family -- but good on Khloe for at least embracing the harsher side of fame.
*It looks as if there will be a change in the line-up of the Black Eyed Peas.
BEP’s Fergie has been wanting to go on hiatus so she can focus on starting a family with her husband, actor Josh Duhamel, and it is rumored that singer Ashanti will replace Fergie as the lone female member of the group.
Fergie is planning to take an indefinite leave of absence after the BEP’s last scheduled show of Nov. 23.
Ashanti was reportedly brought onto the group’s world tour as an audition to see if she could work with the band. Ashanti has been touring with BEP for the past month, and according to insiders, she has fit in perfectly with the group.
“The group has been looking for a replacement for some time,” revealed a top music industry executive.
There will reportedly be an official announcement sometime this month.
Taboo told the New York Times, “We have to respect Fergie. Fergie is our sister. She definitely wants to have a family and we’re happy for her.”
*Being rushed to the hospital for at least the second time during a tour was enough for Rihanna’s doctor to tell her to calm her unhealthy ways.
She told fans that she had a bout of the flu, but newer developments reveal that she was hospitalized for partying to hard.
“Rihanna is running on empty but she’s still been going out drinking and living it up,” an insider tells UK paper The Sun. “She doesn’t have any down time where she can completely relax. She spends most of her time in the studio, on stage or in clubs.”
According to the source, doctors have been telling the singer to slow down on her fun before it takes a serious toll on her health.
“Doctors are worried she’s overdoing it,” shares the source. “She needs to take some time off. Otherwise she’ll be vulnerable to more illness.”
Although she wasn’t able to show up for the screaming fans at her sold out concert in Switzerland, Rihanna will continue on the tour when she gets better.
