SNL Producers angry with Rihanna

Rihanna was a no-show for her final rehearsal for "Saturday Night Live" last night -- which did not sit well with the show's producers, including head man Lorne Michaels ... TMZ says

Rihanna called in sick for the dress rehearsal, which is done live in front of a studio audience right before the actual show. We're told Michaels takes dress rehearsals very seriously and was quite upset when Rihanna bailed at the last minute.

Our sources say that in her place, Rihanna's choreographer danced to her songs.

When Rihanna showed up later looking just fine, we're told the staff was shocked ... and felt she didn't appear sick enough to have missed the dress rehearsal ... though no one from the show called her on it.

According to our sources, once the live show got going, Rihanna was seen eating an apple and walking around in between songs ... which bothered several staffers because she did not seem ill at all.

We're told producers can't even remember the last time someone has skipped the dress rehearsal.

Sources close to Rihanna tell TMZ she went through every rehearsal except the dress rehearsal (which she was in the building for) because she just felt too ill to do it. We're told RiRi had a doctor come to her dressing room before the show and administer a shot of penicillin before she went on.

A rep for the singer tells TMZ, "Rihanna was sick and needed to save her voice for the live show."

Tupac Coachella Performance 2012
altText

We can all agree that Tupac's hologram was nothing short of breath taking/phenomenal/borderline creepy – but here are some things we just uncovered:

1. Tupac's mother, Afeni Shakur, allowed the hologram to happen and according to TMZ, was absolutely "thrilled"

2. As a thank you for allowing this performance, Dr. Dre made a donation to the rapper's charity, The Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation

3. Nate Dogg WAS suppose to appear as a hologram, but Daz Dillinger told TMZ that the decision was made at the last minute not to use him. Nate got a video tribute instead.

4. According to AV Concepts (the company that created the hologram), it took 3 months to perfect the 3-dimensional, life-sized holographic projection of Tupac.

5. According to Rap-Up The exact cost of bringing Pac back to life for one night is undisclosed, but is estimated in the price range of $100,000 to upwards of $400,000.

Watch the video and welcome to the future.

Jennifer Hudson's Status could make impact the Trial

It has been 3 years since Jennifer Hudson's mother, brother, and nephew was allegedly killed by William Balfour. The trial is set to begin on April 23rd and could be a month-long process. It has been reported that Jennifer Hudson could be there every day of the trial, and though it may be good for the family, it could troublesome for the jurors.

Jury selection began today. Defense attorney's will have to narrow down to 12 final jurors out of 150. Jennifer Hudson's "star status" could complicate the proceedings.

Her "presence could be a distraction for the panel once each side finishes with opening statements and gets down to the business of calling witnesses," says criminal defense attorney Troy Slaten

"Her presence at the trial could have a huge impact. Star power always matters. The prosecutor wants her there and the defense does not want her there," says Slaten. "The jury could be looking at her reactions, if she is crying, how she reacts to certain testimony. They are going to be very aware of her presence."

JCole gives back for JCole Day!

J. Cole has been to the Grammys and performed at Madison Square Garden, but he returned to where it all began on Thursday. The 27-year-old rapper was back home in Fayetteville, North Carolina, for the inaugural Dreamville Weekend, named after the label he started in his college bedroom.

The Grammy-nominated Cole was honored by Cumberland County Commissioner Charles Evans, who proclaimed March 1, 2012, as "J. Cole Day." He spoke with students at E.E. Smith High School and his almar matter Terry Sanford, where he once played basketball.

"The world is much bigger than Fort Bragg Road; I want you all to go grab your dreams," Cole encouraged his young fans who packed the gym to get a glimpse of the hometown star. "I don't get to come back as often as I used to, so when I do I really got to take advantage of it."

As part of Dreamville Weekend, the hip-hop role model wants to give back to his community. "We feel like we didn't have a lot of opportunities or a lot of people to look up to," he told the Fayetteville Observer. "I feel like it's important to show them that there's a bigger world out there."

The "Work Out" MC answered questions and shared the rewards of his hard work. "I paid all of my bills," said Cole, who released the song "Visionz of Home" in honor of the occasion. "I'm not rich enough yet, but I want to take care of my mom; I don't want her to work anymore."
