Rihanna Donates $25,000 To LAPD After "Selfie" Accident
The singer broke the phone of a Los Angeles police official while courtside at a Clippers game.
Rihanna donated $25,000 to the Los Angeles Police Foundation after she broke the phone of L. A. Police Commission President Steve Soboroff at a Clippers playoff game last week, according to hotnewhiphop.com.
The pop singer was seated next to Soboroff, who reportedly asked to take a selfie in order to boost LAPD morale.
When the pair attempted the “selfie,” Rihanna dropped the phone and it broke.
As an apology, she wrote a $25,000 check to a fund for cadets and fallen officers.
Rihanna signed the broken phone with the words, “Sorry! I (heart) LADP. Rihanna.” The phone was put up for auction on EBay.
The Los Angeles Clippers playoff run has drawn controversy after team owner Donald Sterling was caught on tape making racist remarks.
Rihanna has been rumored to be involved in the altercation between Jay Z and Solange Knowles. Beyonce posted a photo with the Barbadian on her Instagram account.
