Bobby Brown has signed a deal with Dey Street Books to pen a memoir, Billboard reports. Titled My Prerogative, the book is set to release in June 2016.
“My Prerogative is the story of a man who has been on the top of the mountain and in the depths of the valley and who is now finally ready to talk about his career and family life, from the passion and the excess to his creative inspirations and massive musical success,” according to a statement issued through Dey Street Books.
In a statement, Brown said that right after he agreed to the book deal, he lost his 22-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina, who was found face down in her bathtub back in January and later passed away in July. Throughout that heartbreaking time, Brown said that writing about life was actually therapeutic.

And I hope they will feel that I have been as honest and open with them in these pages as I have tried to be my entire life.”
Dey Street Books has assured that it will discuss Brown’s tumultuous marriage with Whitney Houston.
The memoir will be co-written by Nick Chiles, who has also written a book with Rev. Al Sharpton.

Rihanna calls Rachel Dolezal “a bit of a hero,” speaks on relationship with Matt Kemp.
As part of her cover story with Vanity Fair, Rihanna touched on her past relationships, including ones with crooner Chris Brown and professional baseball player Matt Kemp.
In regards to her relationship with Kemp, she says she was merely dating the athlete when the paparazzi began to portray their relationship as more than what it was. She recalled being “uncomfortable” at the amount of attention their relationship received from the paparazzi.
After speaking on Kemp, Rihanna admitted that she felt that she could change her ex, Chris Brown. She also revealed that she was at one time very protective of the singer.
Lastly, the songstress explained that she currently has no relationship with Brown, but will always care about him.
“I was very protective of him,” Rihanna said while speaking about Chris Brown. “I felt that people didn’t understand him. Even after … But you know, you realize after a while that in that situation you’re the enemy. You want the best for them, but if you remind them of their failures, or if you remind them of bad moments in their life, or even if you say I’m willing to put up with something, they think less of you—because they know you don’t deserve what they’re going to give. And if you put up with it, maybe you are agreeing that you [deserve] this, and that’s when I finally had to say, ‘Uh-oh, I was stupid thinking I was built for this.’ Sometimes you just have to walk away…I don’t hate him. I will care about him until the day I die. We’re not friends, but it’s not like we’re enemies. We don’t have much of a relationship now.”
During her interview, Rihanna was questioned about a former hot topic when she was asked to share her thoughts on Rachel Dolezal, the white woman who attempted to pass as black. She called Dolezal “a bit of a hero” for waking people up and shaking up society.
“I think she was a bit of a hero, because she kind of flipped on society a little bit,” she said. “Is it such a horrible thing that she pretended to be black? Black is a great thing, and I think she legit changed people’s perspective a bit and woke people up.”

Drake and Future were able to remain in the Top 5 in their second week. Thanks in part to streaming totals, What A Time landed at #2. Fetty Wap’s self-titled album is currently at #1.
Even though streaming services grant access to music for free, illegal downloading is still a nuisance for the music industry. In a study done by SeatSmart, analysts broke down illegal downloading according to genre and album.
When it comes to rap, Drake reigns supreme with If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late being the most illegally downloaded album.

The allegations against Cash Money persist.
New court documents filed in Lil Wayne's lawsuit against Cash Money CEO Bryan "Birdman" Williams say that Young Money artists Drake, Nicki Minaj and Tyga were not paid as promised, TMZ reports.
The documents say that Lil Wayne has obtained letters from Drake and Tyga's respective teams making the claims the artists were not compensated properly. Minaj's representatives say that her producers were not sufficiently paid and that the responsibility falls to Cash Money, the parent company of Lil Wayne's Young Money label.
The documents continue by saying that Young Money was supposed to receive a $100 million advance from Universal Music Group, which Cash Money signed a publishing and distribution deal with in 1998. The advance went directly to Cash Money and Young Money claims it did not receive the check.
Cash Money counters by saying that they gave Lil Wayne a $20 million advance in 2012 plus an additional $12 million for his solo album. They say they also gave him $70 million for the Young Money roster's advances, royalties, marketing and recording costs.
In June, Lil Wayne threatened that Drake and Nicki Minaj would leave Cash Money Records because they were not being treated fairly.
Lil Wayne first filed the lawsuit against Cash Money in January and is asking for $51 million. The New Orleans rapper first expressed dissatisfaction with the label in December when he posted on Twitter that he wanted "off this label and nothing to do with these people."
The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is widely considered one of the greatest albums of all time. The LP made Lauryn Hill into a musical icon, and it was the first Hip Hop album to win a Grammy for "Album of the Year." Could a long-awaited official follow-up to the classic 1998 project be on the way?
Music producer Phil Nicolo spoke with The Fader. He revealed Lauryn's recent work on Nina Revisited: A Tribute to Nina Simone is pushing the star closer to a comeback. The compilation album was an accompanying piece to the Netflix Nina Simone documentary What Happened, Miss Simone?
Nicolo has been working with Ms. Hill, and he says the rapper/singer's new work is musical, political, and personal. After a stint in prison and five years of touring, it appears the former Fugees member is in a constructive and creative mind state.
"When she was first getting back into it, there were times when she wasn't as positive," stated Nicolo. "But I think she's in the best place I've ever seen her. She seems happy and very centered. When I see her, her face lights up."
What Happened, Miss Simone? film producer Jayson Jackson echoed Nicolo's current assessment of Ms. Hill. Jackson played a big role in getting the reclusive artist to contribute six songs to Nina Revisited.
"I can say this: I know creating makes her very happy," said Jackson. "I couldn't see her doing as much as she did [on the Simone project] in any state other than happiness."
