The summer of 2014 has been a big
season for female rap on the mainstream level. Newcomer Iggy Azalea broke Billboard records with her hit single “Fancy,” Remy Ma was released from prison and released a track, and even Lil Kim reemerged to drop some new music.

The leading female voice in Hip Hop for the past several years is stamping her name in the history books as well. According to Young Money HQ, Nicki Minaj has set a new mark on iTunes.
The Queens bred performer’s The Pinkprint single “Anaconda” has helped her become the first female to have a number one solo single on the iTunes chart. Add in Nicki’s featured appearance on Jessie J and Ariana Grande’s “Bang Bang,” and the leader of the Barbz also becomes the first female rapper to have two lead singles in the top two spots on iTunes simultaneously.
Minaj recently filmed a video for “Anaconda.” She released snippets and behind-the-scenes footage from the shoot.
