Hip Hop Album Sales: The Week Ending 10/21/2012

K'Naan is back on the charts for a second time in 2012 with "God, Country Or The Girl." Macklemore & Ryan Lewis prove they are no one-week sensation, as MGK, Jay-Z and Lupe Fiasco move strong units.

Seattle, Washington's Macklemore & Ryan Lewis success last week continued. The DXnext certified duo just missed a sophomore week in the Top 10, coming in at #11 with The Heist. Machine Gun Kelly also held strong in the second week at retail with his own full-length debut on the Bad Boy imprint, Lace Up. Jay-Z's recent Live From Brooklyn souvenir album from his Barclay Center shows also crossed the 15,000 unit mark, as one of Roc Nation's less-publicized releases.

K'Naan hit the charts for a second time in 2012 with Country, God Or The Girl. The A&M Records release from the Somali-Canadian emcee/singer expanded his More Beautiful Than Silence EP from January on this fourth studio effort. Appearances by Nas and Nelly Furtado are found both places.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Still Have The Charts By Heist

The Heist, the latest self-released album from emcee Macklemore and producer Ryan Lewis sold another 18,000 records. Macklemore, approaching 30, has a career dating back to the late '90s within the Seattle underground. His latest self-released effort is approaching six-figures in sales, and features appearances from Black Hippy's Ab-Soul and ScHoolboy Q over Ryan's production.

MGK Laces Up

Machine Gun Kelly continues strong into week two. The Cleveland, Ohio retail spoke in-depth about his lyrical ability and label with HipHopDX last week. A leader within the "wild boy" movement, MGK's full-length debut hit the 65,000 mark. There are appearances from DMX, Waka Flocka Flame and more on Lace Up.
