The old adage of shoot for the sky you'll land among the stars seems eerily applicable in this situation. While on The Jimmy Kimmel Show in SXSW this past Lil Wayne described an incident in which a female fan unloaded a bullets on his tour bus.
According to Wayne, he and his entourage boarded the bus following a show and "a persistent fan" attempted to gain entry and was unsuccessful. After ignoring them, the female fan took matters into her own hand to get the rapper's attention:
I've been shot at by a female fan. It was after a show and she was just a very persistent fan, you know. We didn't know what she actually wanted. It's a good thing we didn't figure it out. Once we got on the road, the bus driver was like, 'Hey those girls are on the side of us. He just kept saying it. We wasn't paying him no mind.
According to Wayne, he was by the window at the time of the gun shots. Afterwards his driver informed him that it was the female fan.
Chris Brown is being held without bail in Los Angeles.
Chris Brown was arrested today (March 14) for allegedly violating his probation, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The singer was apprehended in Malibu, California by Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies for violating his probation related to his 2009 conviction for assaulting Rihanna, whom he was dating. Brown was arrested at the facility where he was undergoing anger management rehab and is being held in Los Angeles without bail.
The report does not say how Brown is accused of violating his probation.
In October, he was arrested for felony assault after allegedly attacking a man outside of a hotel.
The singer was reportedly approached at approximately 4:30 am by two women who wanted to take a picture with him in front of the W Hotel in Washington, D.C., according to law enforcement. When two men attempted to get into the photo, Brown allegedly used a gay slur before allegedly throwing a punch at the alleged victim.
In November, the Virginia native was sentenced to a 90-day anger management rehab program, which also included community service and drug tests.
On Thursday, a vehicle reportedly plowed through an Austin, Texas crowd outside of a South By Southwest (SXSW) Tyler, The Creator concert, leaving two people dead and 23 others injured.
The alleged driver, Rashad Charjuan Owens, is being held in Travis County Jail without bond on two counts of capital murder and 23 counts of aggravated assault for the incident. He is an aspiring rapper and producer.
Wayne reiterated his retirement plans once again during an interview with MTV News. The New Orleans native added that the only way he would be willingly to record another solo album after C5 is if he is paid on the level of Kobe Bryant's salary.
"25 to 35 million would get me to do another solo album after this," said Wayne. "I didn't smile when I said it."
The "A Milli" rapper is willingly to contribute to future collaborative projects like Young Money's Rise of An Empire released this week, but he made it clear the next installment in Tha Carter series will absolutely be the last.
"I personally plan on this being my final solo album, yes and it's definitely the finalCarter album. It's the final Carter album. It's stopping at five," added Wayne. "The reason being is because the way I'm working on this album, to me, it seems like it will be impossible for me to work this hard again for anything else."
The artist, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, was tried and convicted as one of the killers of one Clive "Lizard" Williams.
Kartel maintained his innocence, but was not able to convince a jury. The jury came back with a guilty verdict after a mere two hours even though the trial took a whopping 65 days.
Kartel's lawyer said they would vigorously appeal the decision and suggested the police were biased.
"We will not sit by and let this case of injustice score victory. We will be appealing the verdict given the many questionable police corruption in the case," the lawyer said according to UrbanIslands.com.
Kartel was acquitted of the murder of Barrington "Bossie" Burton last year.
The body of Clive Williams was never found, but authorities maintain it happened in a house owned by Kartel.
Three other men, Shawn "Storm" Campbell, Kahira Jones, and André St John, were also found guilty in the murder.
Petey Pablo: "I'm now headed to the work shop to begin what will be noted as my best work ever with one of the greatest producers of all time."
Today (March 13), TMZ reports that Petey Pablo was released from prison following two years for gun-smuggling.
On September 11, 2010, Pablo was arrested after law enforcement officials say the rapper attempted to smuggle a stolen gun through airport security. The rapper was sentenced to 35 months in a federal prison and was released four months ahead of his former scheduled release date, the publication says.
"I'm now headed to the work shop to begin what will be noted as my best work ever with one of the greatest producers of all time," Pablo says.
TMZ reports that Pablo's comment regarding "one of the greatest producers of all time" is a reference to his upcoming work with Timbaland.
In 2011, Pablo spoke with HipHopDX about his then pending legal woes. "I always feel confident," he said at the time. "In the end, the truth always comes to the light. And, regardless of what the outcome is, I'm a man. And whatever has been written in my book of life is written in my book of life. So whatever the outcome of any situation is, I have no choice but to handle it."
YOOOOO! Floyd Mayweather is the man in that ring. I would not want to see him in a fight. But, imagine the beat down that comes when he's ordering a beat down Well, we don't know that Floyd actually did this, but in reading KnockoutNation.com, the accusations are pretty staggering. Peep:
Floyd Mayweather is getting all set for his May 3 fight with Marcos Maidana, but there always has to be some drama. The latest in rumors suggests that Floyd took the law in his own hands. The man once known as "Pretty Boy" hired a couple of dudes to watch his home and then things came up missing in the crib. And Floyd blamed them, according to TMZ. But, wait there is more. The men were told to meet Floyd at a place out of the way. When they got there, they were greeted by Floyd and several other men and then received the beatdown of a lifetime. They also were allegedly beaten with all kinds of weapons and whatnot. The dudes that allegedly stole from Floyd were hospitalized for broken arms and legs. Both men have gotten lawyers and are looking to beatdown Money May in the legal process.
Now MF's wanna listen to Perez if you want, but I nailed this one. You may have saw on other sites that Nicki went on "vacation" in Mexico to celebrate 10 years with Safaree aka Scaff Breezy – her long running boyfriend. But, the word is that was the trip where he proposed to her. Its clear that this is the real deal and has been for quite some time. There have even been haters of the couple that has recently released images of their various relationship outside of each other. But we aren't playing that game. Not now. The word is they got engaged simple and plain. Wonder when the marriage will be and if it will be a VH1 special?
Jay Z's meteoric rise as a sports agent has others in the industry complaining about his practices. Does Roc Nation Sport's competition have legitimate complaints? Or are they just feeling the heat as Jay continues to pull in high-profile athletes like Robinson Cano, Kevin Durant, CC Sabathia, and Victor Cruz?
Forbes published excerpts from a recent Marquette Sports Law Review titled "Jay Z Has 99 Problems, And Being A Sports Agent May Be One." The article lays out some of the grievances other agencies have expressed both publicly and behind closed doors.
Most of the complaints are just speculation. For example, they question whether Jay is guilty of tortious interference by attempting to "poach" athletes already signed to other agents and not disclosing that communication. The article suggests that rivals like Scott Boras (Cano's former agent) and Rob Pelinka (Durant's former agent) could sue Jay for interfering with a contractual relationship.
The piece goes on to question whether Jay violated players' associations' regulations by signing clients before being officially certified. It later points out other agent's concerns that the Hip Hop mogul has engaged in unethical behavior.
"Jay Z is by no means the only agent to raise such suspicion, but due to his worldwide fame, the suspicion surrounding him quickly becomes headline news," states the article. "Whether Jay Z's actions are actually a violation of any code of ethics is not necessarily clear, but some of his actions definitely have agents, media, and others complaining of unfair play."
What is at this point just innuendo and suspicion has not stopped Jay and Roc Nation Sports from continuing to add major players to its growing roster. The agency recently signed New York Giants' Hakeem Nicks.
Mona Scott Young is reportedly being sided for copyright infringement for stealing the idea that would eventually lead to "Love & Hip-Hop."
Apparently, 8th Wonder Entertainment, Nicki Lum-Davis, Trisha Lum have taken exception to Scott's franchise and have taken their grievances to court. They charge fraud, breach of contract and breach of confidence. They say that developed a show called "Hip-Hop Wives," which included Tashera Simmons (DMX's ex-wife), Chrissy Lampkin (Jim Jones' fiance), Mashonda Tifere (ex-wife of Swizz Beatz), and Debbie Lorenzo, Irv Gotti's ex-wife.
The plaintiffs charge they pitched the show to VH1. After the idea was rejected, the concept was retooled and packaged as "Love & Hip-Hip."
The suit was filed on March 10.
Neither VH1 nor Scott-Young has commented on the legal move at press time.
"Yeah, man. Damn, man. I'm embarrassed for the nigga," ScHoolboy Q said at the time. "Like he's not on my album…We cut a record, but I mean and plus he support me. Maybe he just wanted to support. You know what I mean?
"It's a song. Like two. It didn't make the album," he added. "See, I don't wanna make this whole thing—Cause 50 may have a camera set up at my mama's house like 'Nigga, yo mama fat.' You know what I'm saying? You know 50 be going in, so I can't go like—it's nothing like that. It just didn't make it. I honestly, I swear to you, I wish 50 Cent was on my album. That was one artist, him and E-40. It's two people that I wish I put on my album…It's just so many records that I have. I have to pick and choose and I felt that it didn't fit as good as the other records I had."
Rick Ross' Mastermind is officiallly the number one album in the country. Ross' new album has sold 184,726 copies in its first week.
With Mastermind's accomplishment, it makes Ross the holder of the most solo rap albums to reach #1 since his debut in August of 2006. While this is his fifth #1 album, it is his second lowest first week sales, barely edging out 2010′s Teflon Don (his only album to not reach #1).
Last week's #1 album, Schoolboy Q's Oxymoron is expected to fall completely out of the Top 5in its second week, so far with sales of 30,237 copies. This is so far a second week decline of over 78% from last week's 138,517 copies.
Pharrell's G I R L is expected tocome in at second with 110,090 copies.
I honestly had heard that they may be working something out, but I really didn't care. But, this is just what is happening. TMZ reported that his begging has not moved her to take him back, which I find interesting. I actually have an opinion on that and I'm thinking begging works wonders. Well, I can't lie – I kinda hated on their relationship like the truly unhappy individual that I am. Thicke wasn't good enough for Paula and Paula was a lil' too ditzy for him hahaha! I'm just playing. Hopefully they work out.
And after seeing this picture, I had to shame myself for hating.
It looks like when Sean "Diddy" Combs said "I told you that we won't stop" he was dead serious.Bloomberg reports the Hip Hop mogul is looking to expand his media empire to include the music cable channel Fuse.
Lil Boosie attends Boosie Speaks press conference, says the rap game is "wide open for me to take over."
Baton Rouge, Louisiana rapper Lil Boosie and Trill Entertainment held a Boosie Speaks press conference today (March 10) to update fans and the media on the status of the newly-released wordsmith. The conference was attended by Bun B, Jeezy, and Webbie, who all spoke briefly on Boosie before the rapper appeared on stage.
Following dialogue from the trio of artists present at the press conference and Boosie's mother, Boosie's team of lawyers offered an update on his legal standing. According to his lawyers, the rapper has served all his required time and could possibly be on probation for up to four years. They revealed that Boosie also has a routine hearing in court scheduled for this Thursday, March 13.
Upon making his entrance, Boosie informed those watching that he wrote 1,118 songs while in prison and even has a record for pop star Justin Bieber. The rapper appeared confident about his return to music, stating that the rap game is wide open and ready to be taken over.
"As for the rap game, I feel like the music I got, the rap game wide open for me to take over," Boosie said. "I feel like what I been hearing these last three, four days on the radio and stuff is different from my music. Like I said, it's different from my music. And different brings greatness. So, I just feel I stand alone in the music industry to tell you the truth."
In addition to the over 1,000 songs he penned while incarcerated, Boosie says he also wrote his own movie titled Boosie The Movie.
"Well, I wrote my own movie, Boosie The Movie. I might shop it, but I'm probably gonna get my own money and do it myself and I'm gonna try to put it in theaters cause it ain't no movie like this movie. This the real life story," he said.
After serving over four years in prison, Boosie revealed that he isn't familiar with rap's newer artists since he didn't listen to much music during his time spent at the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola.
"I ain't really listened to music when I was in [there]. You know, I just focused on my music," Boosie said. "And I didn't even know really the new rappers or nothing unless I read about them in Hip Hop Weekly. So, I wasn't too much on people's music. I was just focused on me…I was seeing they success as far as magazines."
Lil Boosie was released from the Louisiana State Penitentiary on March 5. He was sentenced to prison in 2009 following a drug possession charge and was later sentenced to eight additional years in prison after being found guilty of attempting to smuggle drugs into prison.
Before I say this, let me say this. Lil Boosie has gotten the streets and the tweets in the tizzy! People either love or hate this dude! They are even going in on his daughter! You saw her right? See that at the end of the page.
Anyway, the hate and love people have for Boosie leads me to my next rumor. It seems like there is a new rumor that Boosie has been busted for weed and is already facing going back to jail. Now, I'm going to keep it real, this person is not hating on Boosie. In fact, they are calling it bulls**t citing that weed is now legal in a couple of States. They also said that smoking weed is still a "major" crime down South.
In fact, I heard he has or will be relocating to Houston to get away from the laws in Baton Rouge. So I'm thinking this is not real. I am thinking its bad info and that Boosie is actually very insulated. But, let me know what you think about his daughter!?! She's off the chain.
It almost seemed like there was going to be a beef with 50 Cent and Snoop, but it seems like Snoop is taking the high road. And yet, he has offered up an explanation on why he gets his fingernails done with the French tips.
So, Snoop took it to social media in the comments of some post. His explanation is below, on the pimp side.
"Pimpin. That's what it is spooned n groomed dipped n whipped suited n booted gooted n looted. Real playas keep they nails fly fresh n dipped at the tip. I does what I does cuZ but but please believe me. Don't let the smooth taste fool ya. BTW. This still crip. So fuxk. The haters jus wanted my nefew 50 to know the dynamics to what his big homie on !! Now for u haters. Suck d*ck or die trying. Hahahahahahahah I'm out. Much love 50. Get money !! cuzz I am."
The old 50 Cent is coming back. Looks like 50 isn't holding anything back. Who has NOT thought about what the f**k is up with Snoop's french manicure? But, nobody on the level of 50 Cent is saying these things!
A day after reports surfaced that Rick Ross would not respond to 50 Cent's inflammatory Instagram photo, the MMG boss does just that in a new interview. During his appearance on Chicago's WGCI's The Morning Riot yesterday (March 5th), Ross dismissed 50 Cent's latest diss.
On his album, Mastermind's "Rich Is Gangsta", Ross says "For me to move forward from here on I need 50. I ain't talking 50 Cent neither n*gga, haha." He keeps the jocular responses going when he addresses 50 Cent's recent Instagram photo that suggested that Ross, P. Diddy and Steve Stoute engaged in homosexual activity:
I feel like this culture is a stadium and if we was in the stadium, I point up at the scoreboard. We Winning. We winning. I ain't got time for that. We winning.
Ross also revealed that before he played the final version of the Notorious B.I.G.-inspired song "Nobody" from Mastermind for P. Diddy, he played it for one of B.I.G.'s closest friends, D-Roc. According to Ross, D-Roc gave it him his approval as well as some gems from the Notorious B.I.G.:
Before I took it to Puff, I took it to D-Roc, who was Biggie's right hand man. He unfortunately was riding with B.I.G. the night B.I.G. passed. [...] He took his time, ultimately, as you can see, he showed his love. He gave me a few of the best B.I.G. stories.
According to accounts Louisiana rapper Torrence "Lil Boosie'' Hatch has been released from prison. Louisiana State Penitentiary Warden Burl Cain confirmed toWAFB that Boosie exited the prison this evening around 7 pm.
Boosie will attend a press conference organized by Atlantic Records on Monday. The 31-year-old will remain on parole until 2018.
Jimmy Henchman reportedly ordered former associates to stalk 50 Cent, Tony Yayo, and Chris Lighty.
Added details in the trial of James "Jimmy Henchman" Rosemond are beginning to emerge this week following witness testimonials from three of Henchman's former associates. According to AllHipHop.com, the three witnesses, Khalil Abdullah, Brian McCleod, and Mohammed Stewart, informed those at the trial that Henchman ordered them to commit violent acts against Queens rapper 50 Cent and others in G-Unit.
The Czar Entertainment CEO and former manager of Game is currently on trial for his role in the murder of G-Unit associate, Lowell "Lodi Mack" Fletcher. Prosecutors believe that Fletcher's death was the result of a murder-for-hire plot Henchman coordinated.
Fletcher was murdered in 2009 in Bronx, New York shortly after he served two years in prison due to an assault and drug charge. The assault charge reportedly stemmed from an incident involving Fletcher, G-Unit rapper Tony Yayo, and Henchman's son.
During Henchman's trial, his former associate Khalil Abdullah, stated that following the incident involving Henchman's son, the currently incarcerated CEO hired gunmen to shoot at Tony Yayo's Bentley and also admitted to orchestrating a hit on Fletcher.
Another witness, Brian McCleod, informed the jury that he was offered $30,000 by Henchman, who McCleod says expressed interest in killing Fletcher himself, to ambush Fletcher. Along with Rodney Johnson, McCleod was convicted in the shooting of Fletcher in 2011.
In Henchman's defense, his lawyer Bruce J. Maffeo pointed out that all three witnesses have something to gain, specifically reduced sentences, due to their testimonials.
"A genius denotes someone who knows a lot on their own—self-contained," Pharrell said in the HipHopDX exclusive. "And I'm not. All of my work is a direct reaction to meeting all these very interesting people with whom I've collaborated. I've learned so much about their processes and who they were, and their vibes have inspired me. In that case, I just could not take authorship for my path. I know that I've elected to take some of the choices, turns and the direction that I've taken. But I know at the same time, there are these integral people in our lives from time to time who come in, give us direction and guide us. They tell us which way to go, and those are the people I feel like are just as much… They share the authorship for all of my successes...So I'm not comfortable in that. I would say I've had a lot of really, really, really good help. And I'm just thankful that people have seen something in me, and I was smart enough to allow them to guide me in the right direction. That's the closest to that term I could ever come to. I'm smart enough to listen to other people, but nowhere near genius."
50 Cent posts a photo collage of Diddy being held by Steve Stoute and a photo of Diddy face-to-face with Rick Ross.
50 Cent posted a photo montage on Instagram yesterday (March 2) that features a photo of Steve Stoute putting his arm around Diddy and Diddy face-to-face with Rick Ross, according to TMZ.
"I ain't saying nothing, but something ain't right. Lmao," 50 Cent said on his post, which has since been removed. A screen shot is below.
A beef between 50 Cent and Rick Ross, whose forthcoming Mastermind album is executive produced by Diddy, surfaced in 2009 over what was allegedly an indirect encounter at the BET Awards. The conflict led to the release of parody videos and diss records.
"Over time, if you personalize everything that is said in each competition," he said at the time. "This is why they changed the terminology from 'battling' to 'beefing.' It was always that battling was a part of the culture. They didn't do that until Tupac and Biggie Smalls' situation. That's when it became taboo to actually mention an artist's name."
"He hasn't had a hit in a really long time," Stoute said. "I mean, he has not made anything musically that's changed anything in a very long time. And I feel like he's always like gearing up for something that never happens. Hopefully, now that he's independent and there's no record company to blame, his aggressive content can get on the air…I think he's trying to get back, but those guys—you know, music is a great platform. If you're an entrepreneur and you have a—you're currently active making music. You're currently active touching people with albums. That it makes it much easier for you to venture into business deals that will become successful using the music to parlay it to get it done. And without having any music that's meaningful over the last—probably the last great song he's made was 'I Get Money'…Kanye's put out three albums, four albums since then."
50 Cent confronted Steve Stoute at the New York Knicks game against the Golden State Warriors in New York Friday (February 28).
