The Damien Beatty Foundation was set up to assist: Damien Beatty, a 17 year old ex Page Football player.
On September 22, 2009 he and a friend was struck by a vehicle on highway 29; the vehicle kept going. The accident left Damien paralyzed from the waste down and he is still in Moses Cone hospital; the friend riding with him had minor injuries.
The Foundation has been established to raise monies to get Damien to Sheppard Center in Atlanta, GA. Sheppard Center is one of the best spinal rehabilitation centers in the country. Treatment would be for 3 weeks and costs $50,000; at the conclusion of which, the family is optomistic Damien will be able to walk again.
There will be fundraisers to assist with monies for the Damien Beatty Foundation, the first of which is October 3rd, at 7pm at Page High School.
