Chuck D is not simply watching The Throne, he’s throwing stones.
During a performance in Lyon, France, the politically charged Hip Hop legend expressed his disgust over the usage of the N-word in the popular “N*ggas in Paris” song:
According to the frontman for Public Enemy, a white fan referred to him as a “n*gga”. However, Chuck blames the word’s pervasiveness in the vernacular of Black men for the white fan’s misuse of the word:
While admitting that Jay-Z is a “very very sharp smart dude,” Chuck also asserts that Jay-Z should assume more social responsibility for his actions.
This is not the first time Chuck has been critical of Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch The Throne collaboration. In a 2010 interview U.K. publication The Times, Chuck D questioned the group’s true intentions with their music:
“Hip hop celebrates those who wanna make a killing instead of a living. I like those guys, but they make me laugh sometimes because I don’t get who they’re here for, other than themselves.”
Ever since Rihanna and Chris Brown reuinted in late 2012, everyone has had an opinion on the polarizing union. Chris Brown’s father, Clinton Brown, can be added to that list after telling theNew York Daily Newshe does not approve of the reunion.
The 48 year old resident of Tappahannock, VA told the New York Daily News that he personally did not want the tumultuous couple together due to an imbalance of their similar personalities:
“You have to have a balance in a relationship. You have to have someone who is spontaneous and whimsical but you also have to have someone who is grounded and logical.”
While not explicitly stating that his son’s romance with Rihanna could be fatal, he does compare his son’s current life to artists who suffered tragic deaths:
“I hate to use examples, but Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and Amy Winehouse — I mean I could go on and on!”
Brown’s father also hinted that there is more to the story of the infamous night of the 2009 Grammy’s where Chris Brown brutally assaulted Rihanna while behind the wheel of his car:
“One has to assume because they are back together that it wasn’t one-sided. You just have to imagine it was a circumstance in which they both had a disagreement.”
Brown does not exhibit a personal gripe against Rihanna and even stated the raunchy R&B princess “was very respectful and polite.”
Clinton split from Chris Brown’s mother, Joyce Hawkins when Brown was only six years old yet stays very close with his son.

Word on the streeternets is that Wayne got engaged? This is straight from LilWayneHQ. I don’t have the wherewithal to make this up! Peep what they say!
Looks Like Wayne will be walking down the Aisle Soon. We saw a preview of Lil Wayne on Vinny Guadagnino‘s “The Show With Vinny” at the start of the year, now you can watch the official trailer for the TV show. At the 0:32 mark of the trailer, Weezy F Baby can be heard saying “my fiance is Italian” when asked if he has ever eaten Italian food before. He also said it with a smirk on his face, so I think we all know what food he is talking about lol. Wayne doesn’t mention Dhea‘s name, but I’m pretty sure it is her he is talking about because she is Italian. Tunechi also seemed really happy when Sway asked him if he could ever see himself getting married in November last year; his response was: “I will be running down the aisle”. Nicki Minaj mentioned this in her hilarious video with Wayne too; she can be heard saying: “I know your fiance is around”.
Wayne and Dhea have been dating since December 2010. In the beginning of their relationship, Lil Wayne was Dating his artist Shanell, but later broke things off to Pursue Dhea. Dhea and Wayne have been rumored to be engaged since February 2012. Dhea gets along with All of Wayne’s four Children, and their mothers. On Valentines day 2004, He married Antonia “Toya” Johnson, His middle school sweetheart. The two Separated in January 2005, and their Divorce was finalized in January 2006. He got engaged to Author and Reality Star Toya Wright three times, He got engaged to Actress Lauren London Three times, he got engaged to singer Nivea twice, he was engaged to Stylist Sarah Vivan, and he was engaged to Rapper Trina. Lil Wayne has previously been engaged a total of 10 times.
Lauryn Hill’s personal and financial life have once again become the subject of much discussion and scrutiny by the public. There have been reports about her taxes woes, her living arrangements and a new record deal that should produce a new album.
But, the singer maintains that there is much to explain and so she has written an open letter revealing her side partially. She says that some of the dollar amounts surrounding a new deal with Sony are inaccurate, in addition to offering context to the deal based on the units she’s sold in her illustrious career.
It has been reported that I signed a new record deal, and that I did this to pay taxes. Yes, I have recently entered into an agreement with Sony Worldwide Entertainment, to launch a new label, on which my new music will be released. And yes, I am working on new music.
I’ve remained silent, after an extensive healing process. This has been a 10+ year battle, for a long time played out behind closed doors, but now in front of the public eye. This is an old conflict between art and commerce… free minds, and minds that are perhaps overly tethered to structure. This is about inequity, and the resulting disenfranchisement caused by it. I’ve been fighting for existential and economic freedom, which means the freedom to create and live without someone threatening, controlling, and/or manipulating the art and the artist, by tying the purse strings.
It took years for me to get out of the ‘parasitic’ dynamic of my youth, and into a deal that better reflects my true contribution as an artist, and (purportedly) gives me the control necessary to create a paradigm suitable for my needs. I have been working towards this for a long time, not just because of my current legal situation, but because I am an artist, I love to create, and I need the proper platform to do so.
The nature of my new business venture, as well as the dollar amount reported, was inaccurate, only a portion of the overall deal. Keep in mind, my past recordings have sold over 50,000,000 units worldwide, earning the label a tremendous amount of money (a fraction of which actually came to me).
Only a completely complicated set of traps, manipulations, and inequitable business arrangements could put someone who has accomplished the things that I have, financially in need of anything. I am one artist who finds value in openly discussing the dynamics within this industry that force artists to compromise or distort themselves and what they do, rather than allowing them to make the music that people need. There are volumes that could (and will) be said.
Superstar Nicki Minaj is going fromAmerican Idol on the small screen toThe Other Womenon the silver screen. The Hollywood Reporteris confirming that the YMCMB performer is joining the cast of the revenge comedy directed by Nick Cassavetes (John Q,Alpha Dog). Love and Hip Hop Atlanta is a little short on love these days. A week after a rumored April 11th physical altercation with Lil Scrappy ex Shay “Buckee” Johnson, Erica Dixon talks exclusively to AllHipHop about her rift with Scrappy’s mother, Mama Dee.
At the April 18th premiere party forLove and Hip Hop: Atlanta, the often outspoken reality TV starlet attributed her soured relationship with Mama Dee to Erica’s unwillingness to be Mama Dee’s “puppet”. Erica even suggests a deeper psychological reasoning as to why Mama Dee is so fixated on Scrappy’s love life:
[Her gripe] was I don’t spend time with her or do anything with her or take her. I’m like ‘I’m with your son, not you. You seem to be confused.’ She might just have the Oedipus Complex. That’s your son, not your man.”
Dixon also claims that any attempts on her end to reconcile the two women’s differences are impossible because “she’s old” and “she’s miserable”. The inflammatory comments culminate in Dixon making a salacious accusation of Mama Dee’s sexual promiscuity:
“I’ve been around 11 year come August. I’ve seen Mama Dee run through about 10 to 15 men. No one sticks on. So that in itself speaks on her character.”
Recently there have been reports that her engagement with Lil Scrappy has dissolved. In a recent interview with GlobalGrind Erica does not clear up those rumors and hints at a possible breakup:
“It’s like I wish this n*gga would get his sh*t together because I know how it feels to be back and forth and to actually really love somebody and to want to be with them. It’s like ‘Get it together.’ And eventually, you know, if I know somebody going through a similar situation, I tell them like ‘He’ll get it together eventually.’ It takes some time ’cause it takes longer for n*ggas to mature but they’ll eventually get there.”
The family of Emmett Till simply wanted an apology from Lil Wayne after a song lyric offensively referenced their kin’s name.
On the unreleased remix of Future’s “Karate Chop,” Wayne rapped, “”beat the p—y up like Emmett Till.” The family of Till and others felt it was disrespectful to both the deceased teen as well as women.
Since, the rapper has not apologized, the Till family have told AllHipHop.com exclusively that they intend to pressure Lil Wayne’s sponsors, namely Mountain Dew.
Shortly, the Till Family are expected to make offensive moves forward to further address Wayne and Mountain Dew, a product of PepsiCo. A similar tactic by women’s group UltraViolet resulted in Reebok dropping Rick Ross from their campaign.
According to HollywoodReporter.com, Hulk Hogan has been granted a restraining order meaning Gawker, and all of its affiliates, will indeed need to pull the Hogan sex tape from its publications. The following is an excerpt from the report:
At a hearing yesterday in a Florida state court, a judge has granted Hogan's request for a temporary restraining order, Hogan's attorney Charles Harder tells The Hollywood Reporter.
As a result, as Hogan pursues claims that Gawker has violated his rights by posting the sex tape, all of Gawker's affiliates will need to pull the popular video from its network. In addition, the judge has ordered to be delivered to Hogan's attorneys all versions and copies of the full-length sex tape, and all excerpts, clips, photos and transcripts of it.
Uh OH! I wonder what happened? I think Nicki Minaj was thinking she was the one that saved American Idol, but somebody else has another idea! Mariah Carey? Her too. She’s a major star, but that is of no consequence. Reports are saying that Mariah and Nicki are out of there – kicked off as judges from “American Idol.” There is a slim chance that Nicki could be spared but Jennifer Lopez is reportedly going to bump Marian off. They are negotiating J-Lo’s contract now. That said, the good people of FOX issued a statement denying the rumor! But, insiders insist that Nicki Minaj has not registered well with the Middle America crowd, who is the core audience for American Idol. Now, I see why Ruben flopped. Anyway, ratings are in the toilet and they have reportedly scrapped this season and are looking to the next one. And to think…Nicki and Mariah were fighting coming into this season.
Man, they need somebody like William Hung to set it off like the good old days!
I couldn’t come up with the right word for the title of this rumor. I know “crushing” hasn’t been used since the days of Big Pun. But, ever since the Lil Wayne controversy, I’ve changed my ways! I won’t use terms like smashing, hitting, annihilating, destroying or even tapping when it comes to sex with women! Crushing seemed to be the saftest!
Remember the “Love Contract” skit? Yeah? I heard that Drake smashes all the chicks he wants, but before he does, they have to sign a binding contract to keep their freaking trap SHUT! This is probably why you really don’t hear any crazy, crazy rumors about Drizzy from any common tricks. He lets out his own rumors as he sees fit, i.e. the Rihanna stuff. But, if these regular chicks want to be with Drake, they gotta sign on the line. I didn’t hear the penalty if they break the contract though.
That said, I heard an interesting rumor about Drake that reminds me of a Chappelle skit.
“I’m riding around my side of town, boxing gloves, I beat the trial.”-2 Chainz on “Spend It”
Tauheed Epps is a happy man. The Atlanta native better known as 2 Chainz was acquitted Wednesday of possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia stemming from a February 14th incident.
On Valentine’s Day, 2 Chainz and six others had their 2013 Ford E-350 van stopped en route to a performance at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on U.S. Route 50 and Hiners Lane, for speeding. After smelling burned marijuana in the car the police searched the vehicle and found a metal grinder in a gray bag that was inside a camouflage-colored bag. 2 Chainz later admitted to owning the bag, however witness accounts state that he was seen asking his entourage who was the owner of the metal grinder.
The Talbot County District Court Judge William H. Adkins III. deeming the case a paraphernalia case found 2 Chainz not guilty on possession of less than 10 grams of marijuana.
Less then three weeks ago (April 5th) 2 Chainz sent tweet out claiming to beworking on his new album. He also recently released the video for his The Weeknd-sampled “Like Me” song off of his debut album Based On A TrueStory.
Rick Ross finds himself back in According to TMZ, a lawsuit has been filed against Rick Ross by international celebrity procurement talent agency, Total Access Talent for unpaid commission for tour dates the agency set up.
The suit alleges Rick Ross hired the company to book a month’s worth of Florida shows but failed to pay the 10% commission. Total Access Talent asserts that Ross owes at least $171,000.
Rick Ross has used the Miami based talent agency since 2004.
This new lawsuit appears a week after Reebok decided to cut ties with the Maybach Music Group boss following a public outcry over his lyrics on Rocko’s “U.O.E.N.O” record. According to TMZ, reports claim Ross could lose between $3.5 million and $5 million due to the endorsement deal’s dissolution.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' Ray Dalton-assisted-"Can't Hold Us" was available almost two years at audio, and about two weeks at video before selling one million copies.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are two-for-two with The Heist singles. Following the platinum certification of "Thrift Shop," the Seattle, Washington duo's second single, "Can't Hold Us" has now reached platinum. RapRadar.com reported the benchmark for the gold-album-selling independent stars.
The single features Ray Dalton, and was actually released in August of 2011, over a year prior to The Heist's release. The video (posted below), released on April 17, already reaching over 6.5 million views on YouTube. The song is currently #2 on the Billboard charts.
Scarface also says there is "a conspiracy against the Blacks in Hip Hop" and explains how record label executives have "brainwashed a generation" of fans.
Scarface recently vented about his frustrations with record label executives and Hip Hop. In an interview with Hardknock TV, Face shared his displeasure by speaking on how he feels race and racism affect the music that is released by record companies.
"I feel like we losing it," Face said in the clip. "I feel like the people that are in control of what Hip Hop does is so fucking White and so fucking Jewish and so they don't give a fuck about what the culture and the craft really is about."
Scarface paused at this point and said he wanted to clarify.
"Let me say this shit right because I want this to be as offensive as I can fuckin' make it for these old-ass punks that's running these record labels that's in the powerful positions to dictate what the Black community hears and listens to. I fucking hate that shit. That shit pisses me off," he added.
"There's no fucking way that you can tell me that it's not a conspiracy against the Blacks in Hip Hop. You put out fucking records that make us look stupid. You make us look dumb. You brainwash a generation of Hip Hoppers with this fucking crud and then when these other rappers come out, splitting it down the middle, these other rappers' shit sound like 'Wow!' Y'all look great!' 'Y'all look stupid!' ... Then mothafuckers start going over here and pretty soon, Hip Hop is White now."
“It’s really exciting to add this to Spin Media’s collection of music properties and bring more digital DNA to the team and see what they can do,” said SpinMedia’s chief executive, Steve Hansen.
The company changed its name from Buzz Media to SpinMedia following its acquisition of Spin Magazine last summer. Buzz Media then discontinued Spin’s historic print publication and laid-off a third of its staff.
According to Hansen, SpinMedia is likely to shut down Vibe’s print magazine by the end of 2013, stating: “We’re still trying to find a print model that makes economic sense in the digital age.”
Launched in 1992 by Quincy Jones and Time Warner, Vibe has been a lynchpin of Hip Hop journalism for over 20 years. There have been several iconic covers throughout the past two decades, arguably none more so than the foreboding Death Row Records issue (February 1996) that featured Suge Knight, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre and the late Tupac Shakur. Penned by Kevin Powell and entitled, “Live From Death Row: Inside Hip Hop’s Ferocious First Family,” the cover story describing the inner-workings of the once powerful record label became a historical touch point during the East Coast versus West Coast feud that claimed the life of Tupac Shakur and Bad Boy Records-artist The Notorious B.I.G.
After a brief shutdown in 2009, Vibe was resuscitated by private equity fund InterMedia Partners, LP followed by additional investment from Magic Johnson and Ron Burkle. Today, Vibe Media's digital properties average 1,400,000 visitors per month along with 1,600,000 video streams. There have been six Editor-In-Chiefs in the publication’s history, including Mimi Valdes and Danyel Smith.
The WNBA star point guard becomes the second athlete signed to the Jay-Z's sports agency.
Roc Nation Sports has not wasted any time making a splash in the world of athlete management. According to HipHopSince1987, Jay-Z has signed women’s college basketball sensation Skylar Diggins to his sports management company.
Diggins’ gained national acclaim during her impressive run leading the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to the NCAA Women’s Final Four this year. The WNBA’s Tulsa Shock selected the 5’10’’ point guard third overall in the 2013 draft. The two-time Big East Player Of The Year is not only considered one of the best women basketball prospects, but is believed to posses the talent and star power needed to increase the popularity of the fledgling league.
Diggin’s signing follows the recent announcement that Jay-Z relinquished his ownership stake in the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets as well as signed New York Yankees Second Baseman Robinson Canoe to Roc Nation Sports. According to the New York Post, Hov would like to be “involved in the marketing and branding” of potential NHL #1 draft pick, Seth Jones.
Trina's brother Wilbrent Bain was fatally shot in Miami yesterday. Local police have the suspect and a confession.
Yesterday morning (April 23), Wilbrent "Gronk" Bain (pictured) was murdered on 91st Street & 24th Avenue in Miami, Florida. Bain was fatally shot at around 9:30 am local time, after he was involved in an altercation with a man said to be on a bicycle. The deceased is the brother of former Slip-N-Slide Records star Trina, who is known for her hits "Here We Go," "Pull Over" and "Million Dollar Girl."
Less than 24 hours later, Miami-Dade Police claim to have arrested the lead suspect. Twenty-seven year-old Ron Dobson was arrested hours after the murder, and remains in police custody through this morning, according to NBC 6. Reports indicate that Dobson confessed to the crime upon the reading of his Miranda Rights.
Bain had previously survived a 2008 shooting. NBC's local affiliate reports that he was a lifelong Miami native, with a previous arrest record including domestic violence, burglary, gun possession and additional offenses.
Trina has not yet spoken publicly about the issue.
Ice Cube gives a glimpse at what will be covered in the N.W.A. documentary, while dismissing imitators.
As he prepares to release his tenth solo full-length, Everythang's Corrupt, Ice Cube spoke about his music, film and endorsement career with The L.A. Weekly.
During the interview, Cube was pressed about his relationship with N.W.A. band-mate, Dr. Dre. Throughout the last 27 years, the pair have maintained a curious history. Once in "the world's most dangerous group" together, they were quick to diss each other in 1990 and 1991, during Cube's departure from the group and Ruthless Records. The Boyz N' The Hood star famously made a cameo in Dr. Dre's own solo breakout The Chronic, in the "Let Me Ride" video. In the decade that followed, the pair would collaborate on "Natural Born Killaz," an early glimpse at the later-shelved Helter Skelter collaborative album. At the turn of the millennium, the two reunited once again, with MC Ren and Snoop Dogg (n/k/a Snoop Lion), in a two-song attempted re-vamp of N.W.A.
During the 2000s, again, Cube and Dre have had periods of promoting an association, before bouts apart.
Pressed about his current correspondence with his Compton, California friend Dr. Dre, Cube replied, "[We talk] every now and then. We're trying to put this N.W.A. movie together. This is the real one."
As for which film Cube was dismissing, it remains to be specified. There are two documentaries in production regarding the life of Eazy-E and his Ruthless Records label, where both Dre and Cube were once artists. One film is allegedly going to produced by Eazy's daughter. Cube did stress that his F. Gary Gray-directed biopic in pre-production is the only authentic account of the group. "That other [N.W.A.-related film] that you heard about was bullshit. This is the official one. We're taking it to the nooks and crannies, I think deeper than any other article or documentary on the group. These are the intimate conversations that helped forge N.W.A. To me I think its interesting to anybody who loves that era and I don't know any other movie where you can mix Gangster Rap, the FBI, L.A. riots, HIV, and fucking feuding with each other. This movie has everything from Darryl Gates and the battering ram."
The full, three-page interview with Ice Cube is available atThe L.A. Weekly.
In March, the rapper had been ordered to submit to a urine test, but police say he turned in a sample that was suspiciously cold, and may have been tampered with. When asked to submit another cup, Scrappy allegedly refused.
According to TMZ, Scrappy revealed that the warrant for his arrest was invalid because "he never submitted bad pee in the first place."
A judge granted Scrappy's lawyer's motion to recall the warrant. A hearing on the matter has been scheduled for May 16.
Trina and her family are in mourning over the sudden, tragic slaying of her brother.
Her brother Goonkie was killed early this morning in a gunfight after an altercation.
The identity of the thief is not known at press time, but sources say Gunki knew the man.
Sources with AllHipHop.com have indicated that a suspect has been questioned, but no arrests have been made.
“He’s a very good kid,” family friend the Rev. Gary Johnson told local NBC Miami. “It’s unfortunate. It’s a terrible tragedy.”
Trina’s management issued the following message on her Myspace page before her brother died:
“I have some very sad news to post. Over the weekend, Trina’s little brother was shot in Miami, FL. Wilbrent Bain Jr. is also known to friends as Goonkie and is 19 years old. He is currently in critical condition at a local Miami, FL hospital. Please keep him in your prayers and send your blessings to Trina and her family! Feel free to post comments as I will be forwarding them to Trina herself.”
Black Thought, ?uestlove and The Roots apparently earned their first ever platinum album plaque for 1999's musical take-back, "Things Fall Apart."
Yesterday (April 22), Complex.com reported that one "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" producers Gavin Purcell congratulated his colleagues, The Roots on the believed to be platinum certification of the band's fourth album, Things Fall Apart. The tweet also pointed out that this was the first platinum album by the veteran Philadelphia, Pennsylvania group.
The February, 1999 MCA Records release boasted two singles, including the Grammy Award-winning "You Got Me" featuring Erykah Badu and Eve, along with "The Next Movement," which featured DJ Jazzy Jeff, along with The Jazzyfatnastees. The mainstream breakthrough LP from The Roots included extensive production from then-member Scott Storch and contributions from J Dilla (as Jay Dee). Guest emcees included Common, Mos Def, Beanie Sigel and Roots Crew mainstay affiliate Dice Raw.
Upon release, Things Fall Apart, which had five different album covers, debuted at #4. The other Roots album plaque belongs to 2002's Phrenology, which is certified gold.
The RIAA typically confirms these certifications up to six weeks after release.
For the second time in almost six months, the troubled Lil Jon protege-turned-reality TV cast member is behind bars.
Former Warner Bros. Records sensation Lil Scrappy has been in trouble as of late. The onetime Lil Jone protege and current "Love And Hip-Hop: Atlanta" reality star is reportedly suffering from wage garnishment, after failing to satisfy a debt he owed to a 2010 booking agency.
Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev informed investigators that he and his brother were not directed by a foreign terrorist organization. Instead, they were “self-radicalized” and motivated to kill, in part, by U.S. wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Washington Post reported.
The 19-year-old also acknowledged his role in the attack while being questioned by investigators in his hospital bed, the report said. Tsarnaev, who has a gunshot wound to the throat and was sedated, responded in writing. He also suffered gunshot wounds in the head, neck, legs and hand during a late-night shootout in Watertown, Mass.
Meanwhile, Tsarnaev's condition is improving, the FBI said on Tuesday. The college student, who had been listed in serious condition at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center since his capture on Friday, is now in fair condition, the bureau said.
The update comes a day after Tsarnaev was charged with two federal counts of using a weapon of mass destruction to kill, injure and cause widespread damage at the marathon. Tsarnaev was informed of the charges and read his rights in his hospital room on Monday morning, and placed in the custody the U.S. Marshal Service. If convicted, he could face the death penalty.
Three people were killed and more than 200 others wounded when two powerful homemade bombs exploded near the race’s finish line. Dzhokhar and his 26-year-old brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who was killed by police as the two attempted to avoid capture, are suspected of planting those bombs.
Tamerlan was an ardent reader of jihadist websites and extremist propaganda, U.S. officials told the Associated Press, suggesting the brothers were motivated by an anti-American, radical version of Islam.
Meanwhile, U.S. investigators traveled to southern Russia on Tuesday to speak to the parents of the brothers, a U.S. Embassy official told the news service. Zubeidat Tsarnaeva, the mother of the suspects, and their father, Anzor, are in Dagestan, a predominantly Muslim province in Russia's Caucasus.
After the bombings, Anzor said he believed the brothers were set up and called Dzhokhar a "true angel." Maret Tsarnaeva, the brothers' aunt, who lives in Toronto, also said she believes her nephews were framed.
Family members are not the only ones expressing doubt.
Many Twitter users have been expressing support for Dzhokhar using the hashtag #freejahar.
And just like the conspiracy theorists who claimed last week that the Boston Marathon attacks were staged, the support for Dzhokhar has been fervent despite his reported confession.
A Change.org petition to "guarantee Dzhokhar Tsarnaev the right to a fair trial," addressed to President Barack Obama, has more than 6,000 supporters.
"We believe that within the chaos caused by the Boston Marathon explosion, two young men were wrongfully accused of something they did not do, and one of them has lost his life before even getting the opportunity of a proper trial," Anita Temisheva, the user who launched the petition, wrote. "We do not wish to see blood of yet another innocent victim, someone who, by U.S. law, is innocent until proven guilty. It is vital to end this persecution, as all the conflicting information shown by the media, and footage from the incident, seen by people from all corners of the world, doesn't manifest itself as enough evidence to condemn Dzhokhar Tsarnaev of this heinous crime."
Lauryn Hill has had her trials and tribulations, but one of the biggest may be upon her.
Her sentencing on tax evasion charges was supposed to be today, but her fate was suspended. A judged postponed her case for two weeks, apparently to allow her to make the money in back taxes.
Ms. Hill owes the government $504,000 in back unpaid taxes and has paid $50,000 thus far. She faces up to 30 months in prison and has admitted guilt in the case.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Madeline Cox Arleo seemed annoyed of the effort Hill has mad so far.
“This is not someone who stands before the court penniless,” Arleo said in a report to Yahoo.com. “This is a criminal matter. Actions speak louder than words, and there has been no effort here to pay these taxes.”
Her lawyer said that the singer/rapper would be able to pay.
“I fully expect that by May 3 Ms. Hill will be able to pay back all the restitution she has,” Nathan Hochman said.
DMX is unhappy about his appearance on "Iyanla: Fix My Life," a television program, saying that the host of the show is "toxic."
DMX is reportedly furious about his recent appearance on Iyanla Vanzant's television program on the Oprah Winfrey Network. X appeared on "Iyanla: Fix My Life," a series about self-improvement, where the rapper was asked about addiction.
"Iyanla set the whole thing up to make me look bad for ratings," he told TMZ about his appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Network show. "That lady is toxic ... My last words to her were that she can suck my dick and she still can."
According to X, he was also tricked. TMZ reports that DMX believed he was going to be asked about an addiction to women instead of an addiction to drugs and alcohol.
Brick Squad 1017 is reportedly kicking it behind the walls, as Gucci Mane and Young Scooter are reported to be cellmates after both had unrelated probation violations.
Earlier this month, two members of Brick Squad 1017 were arrested and incarcerated in Atlanta, Georgia's nearby DeKalb County. Brick Squad's founder and leader, Gucci Mane was arrested for a probation violation on April 12. The event came less than 24 hours after Gucci was released on $75,000 bond, from Fulton County Jail, as he awaits trial on a aggravated assault charge. Amidst those reports, it was also revealed that BS1017 affiliate Young Scooter was also arrested, on April 8, for his own probation violation during a traffic stop.
MTV Rap Fix has learned that the two collaborators are believed to be sharing a cell at DeKalb County Jail. Earlier this year, they released Free Bricks 2, a free mixtape. The report did not specify the cell-size, which could hold many inmates at one time.
Wiz Khalifa's intent to sue a last-minute canceling concert promotion company for seven-figures was reportedly dismissed by a judge.
Wiz Khalifa has sued concert promoter, It's My Party. According to a report from TMZ, the Taylor Gang's leader alleges that the company agreed to pay him $85,000 for a show at George Mason University in Virginia. The report continues that the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania says the event without reasonable notice, and no pay.
As a result, Wiz is suing It's My Party for $1 million in damages, citing that his reputation suffered from the disappointed fans.
TMZ obtained a reaction from the concert promoter. They allege that low ticket sales and lack of a signed contract negated the agreement, and thus the suit.
There is no word on whether this lawsuit will go to court.
UPDATE:TMZ has now learned that Wiz Khalifa's $1 million lawsuit has been dismissed for failing to provide a signed contract.
Nicki Minaj states that Gucci Mane "revolutionized" the underground mixtape world, says she'll always have respect for the rapper.
From his alleged beef with former affiliate Waka Flocka Flame to his current incarceration, Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane has found himself engulfed in controversy over the past few weeks. The damaging events surrounding Gucci have even led some to question whether or not the rapper is in need of an intervention. Among those to voice their thoughts on the Brick Squad artist receiving a possible intervention was Young Money rapstress Nicki Minaj.
While speaking with Atlanta’s Hot 107.9, Nicki revealed that she hadn’t spoken to the rapper in quite some time and later went on to breakdown the difference between Gucci Mane the artist and Gucci Mane the person before speaking on the possibility of an intervention.
“So, it’s like I separate Gucci the artist from Gucci the person. Gucci the person is a sweet, loving, carefree, funny, hardworking dude. And so I never really paid attention to anything he said,” Nicki explained. “In terms of intervention, I think about how talented he is and I kind of wish there was somebody that could step in and say ‘Gucci, if you only knew how special you were. You would take a moment to really just get centered.’ I just think he really needs to center himself and not to point fingers because I’ve had moments when I needed to center myself. Sometimes you just need to be alone in a meditating type of place and to just kinda block out all the other noise.”
Nicki also went on to give props to Gucci for revolutionizing the underground mixtape world and shared that he’s an artist she’ll always have respect for.
“I think that if he can get to that place he’ll be great because nobody can ever deny the fact that he kind of revolutionized a lot of things in the underground mixtape world,” said Nicki. “He also spawned a lot of careers…He motivated me a lot. I loved being around him, he’s a hustler. And so, no matter what I will always respect Gucci.”
A man says A$AP Rocky beat him in a clothing store in July. Almost a year later, A$AP files that the fight was in self-defense.
A lawsuit claims that A$AP Rocky not only beat a man in a New York clothing store in July, but also did so while under the influence of illegal drugs.
Rocky was arrested in July after a fight between him and two photographers who had been filming the rapper while he was involved in an altercation with another person. That person, TMZ reports, claims that he saw the Harlem emcee get high in the clothing store, and Rocky began beating him, before turning his attention to the photographers.
Rocky has already struck a plea deal in the criminal case, pleading guilty to attempted grand larceny, with the assault and robbery charges being dropped.
(December 31, 2012)
UPDATE: A$AP Rocky has responded to his 2012 clothing boutique lawsuit. TMZ reports that the Polo Grounds/RCA Records star filed documents that say the attack was in self-defense of the owner. Rather than seeking damages, the Harlem, New York sensation is asking that the case be dropped.
One of the most well-known broadcasters in the history of televised sports was busted for driving drunk.
Al Michaels, famous for his years on “Monday Night Football” and the “Do you believe in miracles?” call as the U.S. hockey team upset the Soviets at the 1980 Winter Olympics, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor DUI in Santa Monica, Calif., on Friday night, police told CNN.
Michaels, currently the play-by-play voice for NBC’s “Sunday Night Football,” was cooperative and released on his own recognizance Saturday morning, Sgt. Ryan Gradle said to CNN.
The 68-year-old was arrested shortly before 10 p.m. and spent a little more than five hours in the Santa Monica jail, according to the Los Angeles Inmate Information Center. He’s scheduled to appear at Los Angeles Municipal Court at 8:30 a.m. on June 26.
Michaels was behind the mic during “Monday Night Football” for 20 seasons. He has been the daytime host of the last two Olympics and is the only sportscaster to be a play-by-play man or host for the Olympics, plus the championships of the four major American pro sports, having called the Super Bowl, World Series, NBA Finals and Stanley Cup Finals.
T.I. says Hip Hop isn't "about hurting innocent people."
One of the many reports that have come out in the wake of the Boston Marathon Bombing last week was the fact that bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev often visited Real-HipHop.com, even having an email address associated with the website.
While various media outlets have used the connection to infer that Hip Hop may have played a role in Tsarnaev's actions, T.I. dismisses that notion.
"Hip Hop narrates the activity and conditions of our culture," said Tip to TMZ. "It doesn't create them."
"Hip hop ain't never been about hurting innocent people," he continued, adding that the bombing "was a horrible tragedy and my prayers go out to the families involved."
Interestingly, TMZ had reported earlier in the week that Tsarnaev was "heavy into Hip Hop," drawing the very connection that upset T.I. in the first place.
Tamerlan's younger brother Dzhokhar, the other suspect in the bombings, was captured alive on Friday (April 19th).
Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev remains in serious condition at the heavily-guarded Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, the FBI said early Sunday.
The update on Tsarnaev's condition comes as federal authorities are waiting to question the 19-year-old, who is accused of helping carry out the attack that killed three people and wounded 180 others, many of them critically, near the finish line of Monday's race.
According to a federal official, Tsarnaev is sedated and unable to speak.
He was brought by ambulance to the facility after he was captured in Watertown, Mass., on Friday, following an intense manhunt that included at least two shootouts with police and ended with the bloodied suspect taken into custody from a tarp-covered boat he had been hiding in. He apparently suffered gunshot wounds to the neck and leg.
Tsarnaev's 26-year-old brother, Tamerlan, the other suspect wanted by the FBI, was killed during a late-night firefight with police in Watertown. Tsarnaev managed to escape on foot, prompting a citywide lockdown as police conducted a house-by-house search for the alleged killer.
The Tsarnaev brothers, who were born in the former Russian territory known as Kyrgyzstan and are of Chechen descent, lived in Cambridge, Mass., for several years. Dzhokhar became a naturalized American citizen last year.
Under U.S. law, authorities have 72 hours after Tsarnaev's arrest to file a criminal complaint against him. When they do, Tsarnaev is expected to face terror charges that could bring the death penalty.
Immediately after Dzhokhar’s capture, federal prosecutors stirred controversy in legal circles by refusing to grant Dzhokhar his Miranda rights against self-incrimination, citing public safety concerns.
"He is not going to be read the Miranda warnings," ABC News Senior Justice Correspondent Pierre Thomas said Sunday. "They are going to use the Public Safety Exception, and dive in without advising him of his right to remain silent. They are taking this extraordinary step because there could be an eminent threat still out there. ... There's deep, deep concern about the amount of ammunition, guns and working bombs these men had."
The media had a field day when recent photos of NFL star Kerry Rhodes and his supposed gay lover Russell "Hollywood" Simpson were leaked.
The photos are causing media to question his sexuality. Kerry still denies having an sexual relationship with Russell, who is his gay assistant, but Russell says otherwise.
In a recent interview with Baller Alert, Russell spoke openly about his relationship with Kerry and says it was more than just “sex”:
"I met Kerry about a year and a half ago when I went to Arizona for an assistant job. Me and my friend Alton went to Kerry's game. Kerry was injured at the time so he came up to our suite. He was interested in knowing who I was. He was looking for a new assistant and was interested in me and Alton. He wanted us to assist him."
"I got to know Kerry and we became very close. I moved in with Kerry at his home in Arizona. At first we were just friends and we were getting to know eachother. Then we got into a relationship. We were in a relationship for a whole year. I was there, people knew who I was, they saw me as his top assistant. I handled everything for him. No one went to Kerry for anything."
"Of course he came on to me. I'm too fabulous to come on to anybody. That's not what I do. I have a lot of men that come on to me. I don't come on to men because I don't know what time it is for you. I would never come on to a man. Honestly, a lot of gay guys are like me. A lot of gay guys don't come on to guys. It's always the other way around. It's always the manly ones. Of course I wouldn't come on to anybody. Yes, I thought he was attractive but I thought he liked girls."
"The first set of pictures, I don't know how they got out because I did not put them out. If you go on my Facebook page you will see the same pictures but I always crop him out because it was nobody's business. Now what pissed me off about the whole situation is when he and I stopped talking and the pics got out. He said that he was NOT gay. To me he shouldn't have said sh*. If you're not going to tell the truth, don't try to make me look stupid. This is what I say: You can play Nintendo, You play XBox, You play lottery, You Don't Play Hollywood!"*
I can’t remember the last Soulja Boy song, but he stays keeping us talking. I guess there really must be some trouble with these dudes, because SB allegedly threatened to murder Chief Keef on Facebook! Remember, somebody snatched Soulja Boy’s chain, and then somebody from Keef’s came was relieved of their watch out in Los Angeles. Well, seems like the beef is on. SB just dropped a gem.
Boston Police have their suspect in custody and alive.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, a 19-year-old college student, was previously a wanted man in the bombing that momentarily crippled Boston during the annual Boston Marathon.
His older brother Tamerlan, 26, was killed trying to escape police, according to reports.
The brothers were the chief suspects in the marathon bombing, which resulted in the death of three people and injured close to 200 others. The pair are also suspects in the killing of a police officer on Thursday.
Report suggest that the culprit could soon be brought up on murder and terror related charges.
President Obama said there are many questions of Tsarnaev.
“There are still many unanswered questions,” Obama said. “Why did these young men who grew up and studied here as part of our communities and our country resort to such violence? How did they plan and carry out these attacks? And did they receive any help? The families of those killed so senselessly deserve answers.”
Whether or not questions get response is up in the air. Many are lobbying for the terror suspects to be treated as an “enemy combatant,” which would suspend his right to a lawyer and being informed of his Miranda rights.
Screwed Up Click alum Lil' Flip is a wanted man in Louisiana after he no-showed in court yesterday.
Onetime Houston, Texas Hip Hop star Lil' Flip is currently a wanted man. The Screwed-Up Click and Clover Gang member, a former Columbia Records platinum act, is currently the target of an arrest warrant, according to TMZ. Flip reportedly missed a court date yesterday (April 18) in De Soto Parish, Louisiana, for his nearby December 25 arrest.
On Christmas of last year, Flip's vehicle was stopped and subsequently searched. Police allege they found a Bushmaster AR-15 assault rifle and marijuana. It was said to be Flip's third drug offense at the time.
After four years of occupancy, Lauryn Hill reportedly defaulted on rent last month, causing her landlord to file an eviction lawsuit against the Fugees co-founder.
Founding Fugees member, emcee/singer Lauryn Hill is having a difficult week. The Newark, New Jersey native is preparing for a court sentencing date in regards to three years of non-filed taxes, where she could face felony prison-time. Reports emerged earlier in the week that the onetime Columbia Records superstar soloist cited threats on her and her family as a reason she not only evaded taxes, but went into a state of recluse from mainstream society.
Another case against Hill emerged in the last 24 hours. TMZ has learned that a South Orange, New Jersey residence of Lauryn's is currently in default. Reports indicate that while Hill has been a tenant since 2009, but failed to make rental payments beginning in March. Hill's landlord has filed a lawsuit seeking to evict the Sister Act 2 actress.
Lauryn Hill has yet to respond publicly to the reports. She is due in court for her sentencing on April 22.
A late-night police chase and shootout has ended with one marathon bombing suspect being captured here, the Boston Globe reported. Meanwhile, an intense manhunt is underway for a second suspect in the terror case.
Federal agents swarmed neighboring Watertown after local police were involved in a car chase and shootout with at least two suspects. During the pursuit, officers could be heard on police radio traffic describing the suspects as having grenades and other explosives.
The FBI has not confirmed a connection between the events in Watertown to the twin explosions that killed 3 people and injured 170 others at the Boston Marathon on Monday. But according to an alert sent issued to fellow officers, the suspect who remained at large was referred to as the "one with the white hat" seen in the photos released by the bureau on Thursday.
The suspect, described on scanner traffic as a "white male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with black curly hair, possibly with an assault rifle and explosives," as police in Watertown, Newton, Brighton and Cambridge were put on high alert.
"We are aware of the law enforcement activity in the greater Boston area," Boston FBI spokesman Greg Comcowich said in a statement to Yahoo News. "The situation is ongoing. We are working with local authorities to determine what happened."
Worried residents in Watertown, a suburb about 10 miles from downtown Boston, were ordered to stay indoors and turn off their cell phones out of fear that they could trigger improvised explosive devices.
Dozens of police officers, many of them off-duty, searched backyards in search of the second suspect, and a police perimeter of several blocks was established. K9 units and SWAT teams searched homes on Spruce Street as officers searched an SUV the suspects had abandoned.
Shortly before 2 a.m. Friday, MIT issued a statement on its website saying that the suspect "in this evening's shooting is no longer on campus. It is now safe to resume normal activities. Please remain vigilant in the coming hours."
At approximately 3:30 a.m., Massachusetts State Police issued a plea on Twitter for residents of Watertown to lock their doors and not open them for anyone.
"Residents in and around Watertown should stay in their residences," the alert read. "Do NOT answer door unless it is an identified police officer."
I’m hearing some interesting stuff from “Love And Hip-Hop Land” and their Atlanta Ruler, Stevie J. The word on the block is that Stevie J is going to have his own spin-off show to follow his and only his exploits. At this point, this is just a rumor, but it makes sense. They are about to get back onto “Love and Hip-Hop ATL” and another show will likely com after that. I don’t know what the differences could be since it seems like that franchise is already about him. The others just seem to play supporting roles.
I know you can’t wait to get this snide face again.
I’m only getting a sliver of this rumor, but it all started with a bottle to the head. It seems that the Gucci bottle situation has spawned some new rumors. The first of which has already died a quick death. The rumor is that Gucci admitted to guilt in the situation and is off to jail for a long time. Well, this just ain’t true. Seems that somebody got their fat fingers and did a crap Photoshop job that tricked idiots. But, the fact of the matter is, Gucci is still looking at jail time. I think he’s in the bing still after violating his parole or probation. Whatever he’s on. But, he’s not doing a stretch yet.
Look at Jay-Z. Now look at a picture of the globe. No one there is having a better month than Shawn Corey Carter. Days after Jay-Z and his wife Beyonce were deemed music’s first billionaire couple, TIME Magazine places Jay-Z on the cover of the magazine’s lauded 100 most influential people list.
Mr. Carter is joined by a vast array worthy entrants including North Korean supreme leader Kim Jon Un, Frank Ocean, his pals Barack and Michelle Obama as well as his own wife among others. This is the second inclusion on the list for the boy who grew from Marcy Projects with 2005 being the only other year.
Proving he has admirers in the highest of places, Jay’s TIME magazine article was written by none other than New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg. The 108th NYC mayor mentioned Jay-Z’s perseverance, business acumen and hometown loyalty in the concise article:
He’s an artist-entrepreneur who stands at the center of culture and commerce in 21st century America, and his influence stretches across races, religions and regions.
In a statement posted on his Life+Times website, Jay-Z gave his thanks and states he’s now focusing on “building the brands of professional athletes”. The diverse entrepreneur says an NBA mandate requires him to relinquish his stake in the Brooklyn Nets in order for Roc Nation Sports to fully flourish:
Being a member of the Nets organization surpassed some of my greatest ambitions. It was never about an investment; it was about the NETS and Brooklyn. My job as an owner is over but as a fan it has just begun. I’m a Brooklyn Net forever. It’s been an honor to work with Mikhail Prokhorov, Dmitry Razumov, Christophe Charlier, ONEXIM Sports and Entertainment, Brett Yormark and all the wonderful people involved in making the Nets first class. My sincerest thanks goes to Bruce Ratner, who first introduced the idea of moving the Nets to Brooklyn. A thank you and deepest appreciation goes to the fans. You are the lifeblood of any team.
The Nets have made their mark on the NBA and as they enter a new era, Roc Nation does as well; as we embark on Roc Nation Sports. Our newest endeavor is committed to building the brands of professional athletes as we have done for some of today’s top music artists. For Roc Nation Sports to function at its full potential, NBA rules stipulate that I relinquish my ownership in the Brooklyn Nets. It was a tough decision but as I stated earlier, it’s not about ownership. Congratulations to The Nets on a great season and making the playoffs! I will always be a Brooklyn Net.
Rumors suggest that Mr. Carter is trying to get the sports agent application process over with in order to be able to participate in this year’s NBA draft which begins on June 27th.
The New Post is claiming they have word that Kanye West is coming back to "SNL" to play some songs this Spring.
Kanye West has been one of the more famous "SNL" guests of the last five years. Dating back to an October, 2005 appearance, 'Ye has has been the musical guest four times, in promotion of each of his last four solo albums. After West was parodied by cast-member and impressionist Jay Pharaoh, the rapper famously criticized the show in 2010 single, "Power," saying, "Fuck 'SNL' and they whole cast / Tell 'em Yeezy said they can kiss my whole ass."
Appearing on the show months after, West altered the lyrics during his rendition of the song.
The New York Post's "Page Six" reported today that Kanye West will return to the show formerly known as "Saturday Night Live" for a sixth appearance on May 18. West or his Def Jam Records label have yet to confirm these reports. An NBC rep also told The Post that the show has yet to announce its lineup.
Kanye West is currently in Paris, France recording what is believed to be his sixth solo album.
It should be noted that there is growing concern within WWE that The Rock might never wrestle again following his WrestleMania injury.
Editor's Note: This is not part of the original F4WOnline.com report, but my speculation as to why there is concern with The Rock's wrestling status is less because WWE feels he won't recover from the injury, and more that they fear pressure from Hollywood producers/agents will prevent Rock from getting back into the ring.
As we reported earlier this week, Rock has had to pull out of several media appearances for "Pain & Gain" due to his injury, and he had to pull out of the MTV Movie Awards show. This had to have upset movie producers, PR teams, etc, and those same people might fear hiring The Rock down the line if he continues to subject himself to potential injury by wrestling matches.
A few year or 2 ago, Rick Ross and 50 almost got into a real beef over some jean shorts. Remembmer that? Not sure that it was significant enough to remember. Still, nobody wanted that beef at that time. Perhaps 50 smells blood in the water? I don’t know but he didn’t hold back making fun of Rick Ross the other day in light of the Reebok droppage. Yesterday, I didn’t care about this. Today, I have no choice but to care.
Without a "Rack City" in "Hotel California's" arsenal, Tyga still holds steady on his selling-power. And Eminem's "Curtain Call" greatest hits compilation still sells better than most 2013 releases.
Justin Timberlake's 20/20 Experience finally gave up #1, after three straight weeks at the pinnacle. Tyler, The Creator's diss-muse Hayley Williams and her band Paramore, along with LL Cool J's homie Brad Praisley assumed the #1 and #2 spots, respectively, as JT fell to #3.
The key addition this week was Tyga. The 2008 DXnext alum's third solo album, Hotel California scored a Top 10 debut, selling over 50,000 first-week units. Strangely, the Los Angeles, California native revealed in the last week that besides a signing bonus, he has not received any royalty checks from Cash Money/Young Money, despite a five-plus year tenure on the label. This is Tyga's second Top 10 debut in the last 14 months. Last February, his Careless World: Rise Of The Last Kingdebuted at #4, selling a similar 61,000 copies at first week.
Tyga Checks Into Hotel California
A year ago, Tyga had one of radio's biggest hits in the DJ Mustard-produced "Rack City." The Young Money artist was breaking mainstream success, and had a headlining tour. With Hotel California, there have not been hit singles. Despite this, Travie McCoy's cousin, who has a Reebook endorsement deal of his own, still sold within 10,000 units of Careless World: Rise Of The Last King.
With Nielsen reports now including catalog sales, Eminem's 2005 greatest hits compilation Curtain Call (The Hits) is revealed as juggernaut at retail. The Interscope project famously includes the live version of "Stan" with Elton John from the 43rd Grammy Awards, as well as premiered rarities and then new-cuts "Shake That," "Fack," and "When I'm Gone." Released in a period when Em's own album-making future was in question, the compilation is slowly inching towards four-times-platinum, and out-selling all but one new Hip Hop release last week.
In a new TMZ report, unnamed sources said to be close to the deal tell the celebrity news and gossip site that Ross stands to lose between $3 and $5 million dollars through the botched deal. Neither Reebok nor Ross have spoken about the financial terms of their now-forfeited agreement, however, TMZ alleges that Ross was receiving pay each time he wore Reebok sneakers.
On "The Today Show," President Obama says he had no advance knowledge of Jay-Z and Beyonce's trip to Cuba.
President Barack Obama appeared this morning on NBC's "The Today Show." Among several issues the Head Of State discussed, he did take a moment to address some current political controversy intersecting with the Hip Hop community. Two weeks ago, Jay-Z and Beyonce celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary in Havana, Cuba. Photographs of the couple surfaced, sparking controversy, particularly in South Florida.
On "The Today Show," the President stated, "I wasn't familiar that [Jay-Z and Beyonce] were taking the trip. My understanding is I think they went through a group that organizes these educational trips down to Cuba."
Educational trips to Cuba are permitted in the United States.
In order to become a certified agent, Jay-Z must first pass the NFLPA admission test and have his postgrad degree requirement waived.
According to a recent report from NBC Sports, Jay-Z’s latest business venture may be slightly more difficult than many may have initially perceived. Thanks to the rapper’s newly-launched sports management company, Roc Nation Sports, he’s expressed interest in receiving NFLPA (National Football League Players Association) certification.
Receiving certification from the NFLPA will allow Jay-Z to actively recruit NFL players, but in order to become a certified agent he must first successfully pass the NFLPA’s admission test.
On top of passing the admission test, the Hip Hop mogul would also have to work directly with the NFLPA to somehow have the postgraduate degree requirement waived. And with the possibility of that particular requirement being waived there then arises issues of favoritism and special treatment for the rapper.
As of now, it is unclear if any of these requirements will affect Jay-Z’s decision to become a certified agent.
Among those Jay-Z is currently working with at Roc Nation Sports is New York Giants receiver Victor Cruz.
Method Man calls out Universal, says the screenplay for "How High 2" still needs to be written.
Method Man and Redman’s beloved stoner flick How High may have been released well over a decade ago, but despite that lengthy period of time there hasn’t been much progress made when it concerns a sequel to the film.
TMZ recently caught up with Method Man who revealed that they’re currently waiting for Dustin Lee Abraham to write a screenplay for How High 2.
“Right now my man Dustin Lee Abraham, who wrote the first one, we’re currently waiting on him to write the second one. If it’s good enough, we’ll rush out the gate with it,” Method Man explained.
Method Man later alluded to there possibly being an issue with Universal and even encouraged fans to start a petition if they have any interest in seeing a sequel to How High.
“[If] Universal get the stick up out their ass. There’s a lot of people that want to see this movie,” said the Wu-Tang rapper. “Matter of fact, you guys should start a petition. Who wants to see How High Part 2? And once you start it then we’ll see where the big wigs heads are at.”
Released in 2001, How High featured Method Man and Redman as two marijuana smokers who were accepted into Harvard University.
An explosion ripped through a fertilizer plant Wednesday night in the area of West, Texas, sending a massive fireball into the sky and causing dozens of injuries, officials said.
A number of nearby residents were being evacuated because of the possibility of another explosion, officials said.
A hospital in nearby Waco, Texas, has been told to anticipate 100 injured people coming in from the fertilizer plant area, an official at the medical facility said.
Glenn Robinson, CEO of Hillcrest Hospital, said a field triage station was being set up on a football field near the plant some 18 miles north of Waco after the Wednesday night explosion.
Report: Explosion at Texas plant
"We have had a steady flow of patients coming in by ambulance as well as by private vehicles," Robinson told CNN's Anderson Cooper.
More than 60 patients were received as of 10 p.m. (11 p.m. ET), Robinson said, suffering from "blast injuries, orthopedic injuries (and) a lot of lacerations. While some of the injuries are minor, others are "quite serious," he said.
Hazardous material teams were being rushed to the scene, an emergency management official said.
At least six helicopters are going to fly out those who are injured, Robinson said. Others are being transported by ambulance, and some are getting to the hospital by car, he added.
Two other hospitals in the region were also assisting.
As many scrambled to assist the injured, another danger seemed to emerge Wednesday night.
"What we are hearing is that there is one fertilizer tank that is still intact at the plant, and there are evacuations in place to make sure everyone gets away from the area safely in case of another explosion," said Ben Stratmann, a spokesman for Texas State Sen. Brian Birdwell.
Photos of the explosion -- which reportedly happened around 7:50 p.m. (8:50 p.m. ET) -- showed a huge blaze and flames leaping over the roof of a structure and a plume of smoke rising high into the air.
The West Fertilizer Plant is just north of Waco. A school and a nursing home are among the buildings near the plant, CNN affiliate KWTX reported.
Texas Gov. Rick Perry said he is aware of the explosion, a spokesman said, and was working to get resources into the area.
Tommy Alford, who works in a convenience store about three miles from the plant, told CNN that several volunteer firefighters were at the store when they spotted smoke. Alford said the firefighters headed toward the scene and then between five and 10 minutes later, he heard a massive explosion.
"It was massive; it was intense," Alford said.
Chrystal Anthony, a nearby resident, said she saw the flames engulf a nursing home and an apartment complex.
"It was an apartment complex that was devastated, the nursing home. The fire was close to a residential area," Anthony said.
"It was like a bomb went off," said Barry Murry, a resident who lives about a mile away from the plant. "There were emergency vehicles everywhere. It has been overwhelming."
West, Texas, is a community of about 2,800 people, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
Sitting about 75 miles south of Dallas and 120 miles north of Austin, West is one of 22 incorporated communities in McLennan County.
After three albums with Cash Money Records, Tyga told Power 105's The Breakfast Club that all he received was a signing bonus.
Last week, Tyga released his third album through Cash Money/Young Money Records in Hotel California. Following 2012's Careless World: Rise Of The Last King album and 2008's independent No Introduction, the Los Angeles, California native has sold over 350,000 albums to date in the United States alone. However, the veteran artist recently stated to Power 105's The Breakfast Club, that he's never received a royalty from the label Birdman co-founded.
"I never got a check from Young Money/Cash Money," Tyga said in the interview, as reported by HipHopBlog.com. "But by me saying that, I've always treated my career like independent and everything that I got is because of myself, my own endorsements, me touring, myself. I think I got a signing bonus when I first signed but that was it."
Artists including Juvenile and Mannie Fresh have previously left Cash Money, citing financial disputes for their departure.
Tyga however, did not appear to be completely complaining, "At a certain time, you get your money but at the same time, they pay for your videos and all that other stuff. But I never really was dependent on the label like that."
Tyga's third solo album, Hotel California is projected to receive a Top 10 debut tomorrow.
New information reveals that earlier this month Coolio was busted. His latest legal troubles include reported allegations that he punched his girlfriend in the face and ran over her with his car.
Los Angeles, California rapper Coolio is the latest artist to find himself on the wrong side of the law. The former WC & The M.A.A.D. Circle member and longtime Tommy Boy Records solo artist was arrested earlier this month, as now reported by TMZ.
Coolio is reportedly accused of assaulting his girlfriend, Anabella Chatman, after he pushed her to the ground and struck her in the face. Further information led police to believe that the rapper further assaulted Chatman with a car, after tire marks were discovered on her legs. Per the story, Coolio has alleged that he acted in defense, though no official statements have been made.
50 Cent remembers not understanding that his mother passed away, and says he doesn't yearn for a connection with his father.
50 Cent doesn't often speak on the topic of his parents. In an interview on "Larry King Now," the Queens emcee opened up, first talking about his deceased mother.
"I don't think I really dealt with it in the early stages," said Fif of the loss of his mother. "I lost my mom when I was eight, so I didn't really understand at that point."
50 explained that as a child, he didn't understand that he had lost his mother at first. "Later, they would consistently say, 'She's not coming back,' and I'm like, 'Yeah she is.' My grandfather would look at me like, 'He doesn't understand.' Later, you grow and start to understand."
Fif also spoke about his father, though the attitude towards him was decidedly less warm. "I never knew my father. I never actually met him. Some people have that thing where they want that parent that they haven't had in their lives. I have no interest in it."
"The mistakes I made early on... he could've been here to help me not make those mistakes," he added
After being involved in one of the most notorious Hip-Hop rap battles in history, Nas would definitely be considered one emcee that has a keen understanding of the impact lyrical beefing.
The Queensbridge native’s 2001 war of words with Jay-Z for the title of “King of New York” helped elevate both rappers to legendary status. It’s significance is so great that a dozen years later fans of both emcees still debate who came out on top even though the rappers themselves have long settled the dispute personally.
While speaking with Australian music websitethemusic.com-au, Nas expressed his belief that rap battles are a necessary and vital Hip-Hop tradition.
“Hip-Hop battles are very important parts of Hip-Hop as well. You never know when it could happen. When it happens, people get a chance to see what you’re made of,” said Nas.
Battles have been a part of Hip-Hop culture from the very beginning. The earliest Hip-Hop DJ’s would compete to see who could rock a party the hardest. Then when the emcee came to the forefront, they wanted to prove who was the best rapper on the mic by going head-to-head. Competition was also a driving force in the rise of b-boy crews and graffiti artists.
That competitive nature has survived in Hip-Hop until this day with recent rap battles like Cassidy vs Meek Mill, Lil Wayne vs Pusha T, and Drake vs Common still capturing the attention of rap fans.
“What I say to people is, ‘When you’re an emcee, you never know when your day’ll come to be in a Hip-Hop battle’,” added Nas.
Hip-Hop is a severely competitive sport, and when a challenge arises the two opponents have to step in the ring and prove who the real champion is. The custom of beefing on wax not only shows the public which rapper can handle their own on the mic, but it also provides a needed nonviolent means of settling a dispute.
Lil Scrappy's financial woes are reportedly creeping up again, as a booking agency is said to be collecting his VH1 checks before he gets them.
Atlanta, Georgia rapper Lil Scrappy is the latest former major label hit-maker dealing with financial woes. TMZ.com reports that while Scrappy has a high-profile role on VH1's "Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta" series, the former Warner Bros. Records artist owes a booking agency called Heavy Rotation an estimated $108,000.
The 2010 debt has escalated with interest and penalties, and Scrappy, who was formerly affiliated with G-Unit and DTP Records, is now reported to have his VH1 pay garnished to satisfy what he owes.
In late 2010, Scrappy and then live-in-girlfriend Diamond were said to be facing home foreclosure, when documents surfaced to reveal that they were late on rent payments.
Scrappy has appeared on both seasons 1 and 2 of VH1's reality show.
Documents in Lauryn Hill's tax trial reportedly reveal that threats against her and her family caused the Fugees superstar to go further into recluse, and miss three years of filing income taxes.
Lauryn Hill is in trouble for not filing and in turn, paying three years worth of income taxes. First reported in June of last year, the Newark, New Jersey singer/emcee faces six-figures in fines, and possibly felony prison time for her tax negligence. TMZ now reports that the former founding member of The Fugees is citing onetime threats on her family for failing to miss 2005, 2006 and 2007's tax payments, but also to withdraw from society.
The site claims that in Miss Hill's legal documents, she "withdrew from society at large due to what she perceived as manipulation and very real threats to herself and her family."
The documents are not specific about who was threatening the Sister Act 2 actress-turned-star. Hill has not released an album since 2002's MTV Unplugged 2.0 release. She appeared on John Legend's Get Lifted and Method Man's 4:21...The Day After during the years in question.
Hill will be in court on April 22 before a ruling judge. She is reportedly seeking probation.

A Las Vegas judge has that a trial of Flavor Flav will move on, charging that the rapper threatened his fiancé and her 17-year-old son with a butcher knife.
The 54-year-old rapper will stand trial for a pair of felonies and faces up to 12 years in jail. On April 18, the famed Public Enemy hype man will be arraigned formally on felony charges of assault with a weapon and child endangerment.
Flav, real name William Jonathan Drayton Jr., is expected to plead not guilty.
Reports say he pushed his fiancé down to the ground in October and chased her and her son around with butcher knives in their Las Vegas home.
A police sergeant with the Port Canaveral Police Department was practicing his firearm skills, but the targets he was shooting looked just like Trayvon Martin wearing a hoodie.
For his actions, Sgt. Ron King no longer has a job with the police force.
King used the image for target practice, according to the Associated Press.
“Whether it was his stupidity or his hatred, (this is) not acceptable,” said Port Authority interim CEO Jim Walsh.
King was teaching other officers how to use their guns and had the Trayvon-looking posters in his car. Not only did the posters have a faceless figure in a hoodie, but they also had Skittles candy in a pocket and ice tea in a hand.
This is what Trayvon Martin had on his person when he was slain by George Zimmerman in a Florida gated community. Martin was unarmed.
The murder trial of Zimmerman starts in June at press time.
King also offered the posters to other officers.
The Martin family released a statement through their lawyers.
“It is absolutely reprehensible that a high-ranking member of the Port Canaveral Police, sworn to protect and serve Floridians, would use the image of a dead child as target practice,” the statement said.
King tried to plea that he was simply trying to show officers that they need to exercise restraint when using their guns. He owns a company that offers firearm training and coaches people for personal safety, according to the AP.
“It will have an effect on the case,” Meek Mill’s lawyer Dennis Cogan said. “We’re talking about institutional indifference.”
In a separate 2012 case, a Common Pleas Court judge also questioned Boyer’s understanding of the law, after he testified that he frisked everyone in every car, that he stopped, every time.
“It appears that Officer Boyer…was a victim of his own professional enthusiasm,” the investigation revealed. “In the interest of productivity (900 arrests in less than two years) he cut some clerical corners.
However, there was no showing that any of his erroneous clerical entries were created for personal gain.”
A hearing for Meek Mill’s case the slated for April 29.
Officer Andre Boyer also has a $200,000 lawsuit against the city, claiming his reputation has been damaged by the allegations that he falsified reports.
"Before I am an artist, I am a father, a son, and a brother to some of the most cherished women in the world. So for me to suggest in any way that harm and violation be brought to a woman is one of my biggest mistakes and regrets. As an artist, one of the most liberating things is being able to paint pictures with my words. But with that comes a great responsibility. And most recently, my choice of words was not only offensive, it does not reflect my true heart. And for this, I apologize. To every woman that has felt the sting of abuse, I apologize. I recognize that as an artist I have a voice and with that, the power of influence. To the young men who listen to my music, please know that using a substance to rob a woman of her right to make a choice is not only a crime, it's wrong and I do not encourage it. To my fans, I also apologize if I have disappointed you. I can only hope that this sparks a healthy dialogue and that I can contribute to it." —William Roberts (a.k.a "Rick Ross")
Additionally, the star went on his Twitter to thank Reebok, wishing the brand further success:
Speaking on East Village Radio, Drake addressed Chris Brown, brushing the singer aside. “I make better music than him. I am more popping than him."
Drake all but confirmed that he had some form of relationship with Rihanna at one point, adding fuel to the speculation that the singer was the reason for the feud between the two men. "At one point the woman he loves fell into my lap. I did what a real nigga would do. I treated her with respect."
“His insecurities are the reason I make better music than him,” added Drizzy.
Drake explained that fans shouldn't even be interested in a beef between the two. "It's not me and Kendrick, it's not me and Hov. You're not gonna get anything out of it. I don't want to hear that man rap. No one wants to hear me rap against him. I really do this shit. You're not even going to get anything out of it."
It appears that Gucci Mane never reported to the court. TMZ reports that within one day of his release, Gucci was apprehended today for a probation violation.
Details are still emerging, but the Brick Squad 1017 leader is believed to be back in custody at this time. Gucci was presently pending trial on an aggravated assault charge, for battering a U.S. soldier with a bottle, which he was indicted for earlier in the week.
The Major League Baseball Players Association has announced that Jay-Z has applied to be certified as an agent.
According to USA Today reports, Jay-Z has started the process of becoming a baseball agent. Roc Nation Sports has already partnered with Creative Artists Agency (CAA) Sports in order to represent New York Yankees player Robinson Cano.
It seems Jay-Z is also selling his share of the Brooklyn Nets because of issues that may arise if he were to become certified with the Major League Baseball Players Association. Yahoo! Sports reported this earlier in the month.
Jay-Z also discussed this in his "Open Letter," a song he recently leaked. His verse denied that this was going on.
"Would've brought the Nets to Brooklyn for free," he rhymes on the track. "Except I made millions off of you fucking dweebs. I still own the building. I'm still keeping my seats. Y'all buy that bullshit, y'all better keep y'all receipts."
Jay-Z reportedly owns less than one percent of the Nets. However, he has been an important public figure for the team.
DJ Kay Slay also talks about how he felt betrayed by Nas in 2003 and how things "ain't been the same."
DJ Kay Slay's relationship with Nas was once a strong partnership. Slay sided with Nas in his infamous beef with Jay-Z. He also deejayed for Nas and appeared in his videos. They even collaborated musically. However, one day, their relationship soured.
According to Slay, Nas was set to appear in a video for his first single off of his first album, 2003's The Streetsweeper Vol 1. Slay was excited, sharing that the track "Too Much For Me" was buzzing on the radio. Baby, Foxy Brown and Amerie were prepared to do the video but Nas was not present.
"Nas had some kind of altercation with the label and didn't want to come to the video [shoot]," Slay explained. "Fuckin' dude would not come to the video shoot, yo...That's when me and him fell out. And then I start to find out that [to] a lot of people that he was close to, this was somewhat like a pattern. Shit ain't been the same, man. I ain't still mad at the nigga like that because I'm a grown man. I ain't into carrying shit like that throughout my life. But I ain't ever gonna forget that. That was some real wack shit."
Slay also added that he was "disgusted" by Nas' reconciliation with Jay-Z and his signing under Def Jam while Hova was president of the label.
"I was kind of disgusted about that because I just felt like he handed the crown back over. You took the crown and then did business. You handed it back over. If you beat me in a battle but then you sign under me?" he continued. "Then I just think there was too much said."
The video can be viewed below courtesy of Vlad TV. In it, Slay also talks about how he and Jay-Z "never really cared for each other."
A$AP Rocky said he doesn't feel some women should wear red or purple lipstick. Azealia Banks responds by saying A$AP needs to "come out of the closet."
Azealia Banks and A$AP Rocky are feuding and their feud has evolved into a conversation about skin complexion and sexual orientation.
Banks was originally offended by A$AP Rocky's comments in The Coveteur. In his interview, which has since been edited, the emcee shared his take on women wearing lipstick.
"I feel like with the red lipstick thing, it all depends on the pair of complexion," he said, as noted on Huffington Post. "I’m just being for real. You have to be fair-skinned to get away with that. Just like if you were to wear like—fucking for instance, what do dark skin girls have that you know fair skinned girls cant do… Purple lipstick? Naw, that looks stupid on all girls! Purple lipstick, guys! Like, what the fuck…"
Banks, upset about these comments, decided to send shots at Rocky.
Banks responded to the criticism about her "closet" comment, saying she was hurt by Rocky.
In November of last year, Rocky shared his views on homophobia and racial discrimination.
"I'm a heterosexual man. I never been gay a day of my life," he explained. "I used to be homophobic, but as I got older, I realized that wasn't the way to do things. I don't discriminate against anybody for their sexual preference, for their skin color... That's immature. Not only that, not only do I know the difference between that, but I'm wise enough to know that that's just stupid and wrong, and I'm just trying to spread that to everybody."
"I like women. I love women," he noted. "I'm not going to not be your friend because you like men. As long as you're a great person and, aside from that, y'know, you don't bother me and make me uncomfortable, then let's be friends, dude… It doesn't matter. You don't see people for being gay. People need to leave gay people the fuck alone. Like, who cares? If you still care about shit like that you need to just hang yourself like the rest of them KKK mothafuckers."
In the past, Rocky has also discussed his friendship with Banks and has said she should not beef with people.
"I like her for what she’s worth," he said of Banks, who was feuding with T.I. "I do think she gotta chill out with the beefin’ and all that other stuff and disrespecting the O.G.s. She the homegirl, so it ain’t nothin’ but a little talk to her. I think if she stays out of trouble, she’ll have longevity.”
Jay-Z immediately kicks off “Open Letter” with a reference to his controversial trip to Cuba as he dotes on turning the city’s capital of Havana into Atlanta before addressing the various politician’s who’ve called for the investigation of his trip.
“Politicians never did shit for me/ Except lie to me, distort history/ Wanna give me jail time and a fine/ Fine, let me commit a real crime,” Jay-Z raps.
The Swizz Beatz-produced number also finds Jay-Z speaking on reports that he may be dropping his ownership of the Brooklyn Nets.
“Would've brought the Nets to Brooklyn for free/ Except I made millions off it, you fuckin' dweeb/ I still own the building, I'm still keeping my seat/ Y'all buy that bullshit, you'd better keep y'all receipt,” states the rapper on “Open Letter.”
For fans of the noted Brooklyn rapper, there may be more new tunes to come. During an interview with Hot 97, Swizz Beatz revealed that “Open Letter” was just one of three records he recorded with Jay-Z last night (April 10).
“We started the beat in Jay-Z’ office. Then we took it to the 40/40,” said Swizz Beatz, according to AllHipHop.com. “And Jay called me in the morning with his verse…We did four crazy joints last night.”
Press Secretary Jay Carney states that there was no communication between Jay-Z and President Obama.
Jay-Z’s "Open Letter" may have been released just this morning and already the record has made its way to the White House. Earlier today (April 11), during a White House press conference, White House press secretary Jay Carney was questioned about the President Barack Obama reference on Jay-Z’s newly-released record as well as the rappers controversial trip to Cuba.
Jay-Z mentions President Obama in this particular lyric: “Obama said ‘chill, you gonna get me impeached’/ But you don't need this shit anyway/ Chill with me on the beach.”
During the press conference, a reporter quoted part of the song for Carney and then asked if President Obama had any kind of conversation with Jay-Z in regards to his trip to Havana, Cuba. Carney went on to stress that the U.S. Treasury Department handles such matters and revealed that there was no communication between the President and Jay-Z.
“I guess nothing rhymes with ‘treasury.’ Because Treasury offers and gives licenses for travel as you know and the White House has nothing to do with it,” Carney explained. “I am absolutely saying that the White House and the President on down had nothing to do with anybody’s travel to Cuba. That is something that Treasury handles.”
Following the lyrics of "U.O.E.N.O. (You Ain't Even Know It)," Reebok says that Rick Ross fails to meet the standards and values their brand demands in a partner.
After a public protest in front of their New York City store on April 4, Reebok has dropped star rapper Rick Ross from an endorsement deal. The Washington Post reports that the shoemaker and apparel brand released the following statement today: “Reebok holds our partners to a high standard and we expect them to live up to the values of our brand. Unfortunately, Rick Ross has failed to do so.”
The reaction is like to an appearance on Rocko's "U.O.E.N.O. (You Ain't Even Know It)." The emcee rapped, "Put Molly all in her champagne, she ain't even know it / I took her home and enjoy that, she ain't even know it." Rocko has since removed Ross' verse from his single.
Reebok added that Rick Ross, who apologized in a tweet and during a radio interview, did not act in accordance with their standards, following the allegations. The statement continued, "We are very disappointed [that Rick Ross] has yet to display an understanding of the seriousness of this issue.”
Rick Ross has yet to release a statement or tweet a reaction to the news.

HOLY COWPOLY! Drake thinks he’s the Godfather or something, B! According to a recent lawsuit by Chris Brown’s bodyguard, this just how the big fight started.
Drake sent a bottle over to Chris Brown’s VIP at a New York nightclub with a note that said, ““I’m F***ing The Love Of Your Life.” What in Sam Hill. That’s a G move not a move that Wheelchair Jimmy would do. At any rate, yeah man…damn. After that was sent, all hell broke lose.
Jay-Z is bringing the band back together again in Philadelphia for the second Made In America Festival.
Budweiser and Jay-Z have teamed up with Spotify and Google Hangout to unveil the lineup on their 2013 Made In America Festival playlist. Here is a current list of artists who will be performing at Benjamin Franklin Parkway overLabor Day Weekend (Aug 31 & Sept. 1):
Tyler, The Creator's second label release, Wolf, sold just under 90,000 first-week units. The Odd Future front-man's latest effort features some higher profile guest-work than 2011's Goblin. Pharrell, Erykah Badu and former OFWGKTA member Casey Veggies all appear, as do the active members, including Frank Ocean. This is Tyler's first release fully with the group's own label, as Goblin was a one-album deal with XL Recordings. Wolf is distributed by Sony Red.
Wolf outsold Goblin's first-week by nearly 50,000 units. That effort also scored the Los Angeles, California native a #5 debut.
Papoose's Dream Lives On
Following Papoose's 2006 seven-figure contract with Jive Records, Nacirema Dream began its campaign. Six and a half years later, much of the album as recorded in the mid '00s was released courtesy of Honor B4 Money/Empire Distribution. The Brooklyn, New York emcee and onetime Kool G Rap and DJ Kay Slay protege worked with East Coast Hip Hop luminaries such as DJ Premier and Buckwild, along with Heatmakerz and Dame Grease. Vocally, the album features Mobb Deep, Jadakiss, Jim Jones and Pap's own wife, Remy Ma. One guest who later criticized the album for an authorized appearance is Erykah Badu. The 20-track effort notably features a sequel to Papoose's early 2000s street hit and lyrical clinic, "Alphabetical Slaughter."
