This dude is soft as baby food on the show Love & Hip-Hop, but maybe he is some kinda psycho thug in real life?Mendeecees, the male friend of Yandy Smith, is already accused of child molestation. If that wasn’t enough, he’s reportedly caught a case in the drug arena. Mendeecees Harris allegedly turned himself in for outstanding drug charges. Mendeecees Harris is also facing separate charges up to 20 years in jail for sexual assault with a minor, that trial begins tomorrow January 29, 2013.

Mendeecees Harris was arrested in 2001 in Hagerstown, Maryland for distributing cocaine and was sentenced to four years in prison, three years probation. —–Not sure if Mr. Harris served any time in jail, and not sure if  the current outstanding charges are related.

Attached are some documents from his previous case, and it looks like some of his documents are sealed.

Previously it was alleged Mendeecees Harris was working with the federal government.  Take a look for yourself. I am not an attorney, nor do I know what having an open active contract case means??

Timbaland is the latest artist to join Jay-Z's Roc Nation imprint.

Jay-Z has officially announced the signing of Timbaland to his Roc Nation label.

The Brooklyn, New York rapper broke the news on his Life+Times website, posting a picture of the two talking in the studio. "Roc Nation welcomes TIMBALAND to the family," reads the caption.

The pair has worked together throughout their respective careers. In 1998, Timbo produced Jay's hit "Nigga What, Nigga Who," while he returned the favor for the following year's "Lobster & Scrimp." Collaborative hits also include "Big Pimpin," "Dirt Off Your Shoulder" and "Off That" featuring Drake. Most recently, the Virginia native produced Justin Timberlake's new single "Suit & Tie" featuring Jay-Z, and he expressed interest in recording a full-length LP with Hov.

Most recently, Roc Nation signed M.I.A., Meek Mill, Elijah Blake and Jahlil Beats to subsets of the company including the label and management.

50 Cent is in talks with FOX to launch an animated comedy series based on his childhood.

50 Cent is in negotiations to sell an animated comedy series about his life to FOX.

According to Deadline, the rapper is working with feature producer Randall Emmett and Imagine TV to sell the untitled project, which is loosely based on his adolescence.

The series, written by Carl Jones, is expected to be given a pilot or presentation order, focusing on "a mischievous but well-meaning boy who often tangles with his eccentric family and neighborhood." In addition to Fif, Jones and Emmett, executive producers on the project include Imagine TV's Brian Grazer, Francie Calfo and Andrew Jameson.

50 has previously adapted his life for the big screen with 2005's theatrical release Get Rich or Die Tryin'. He will next appear in The Frozen Ground and The Tomb, and is executive producing the upcoming drama series Power for Starz.

I have no idea, but this is epic! Nas had dinner with Mark Zuckerberg and billionaire investor Ben Horowitz! Wow! What a crazy dinner that may have been. This is great that Nas is really blowing up again with Life Is Good.

The popo are looking directly at the GD’s and they are looking specifically at the GD’s in Chicago! They are basically suggesting that this is coming from the man Larry Hoover! If that should be the case, s**t would be MAJOR THICK suddenly!

See, what happened – supposedly – is Rick Ross used some of the symbols and and logos of the GDs and didn’t pay the required “fees.” When Ross was in Fort Lauderdale, they opened fire with the AK-47!!!!

50 Cent takes to Twitter to claim that Rick Ross wasn't actually the target of a drive-by shooting attempt.

Earlier this morning, Rick Ross crashed his Rolls Royce in Fort Lauderdale, Florida after someone fired shots at his vehicle, prompting him to drive his car into a building.

His longtime foe 50 Cent took to Twitter shortly after news broke, posting a picture of the vehicle being towed and noting that it did not have bullet holes.

"Hahaha fat boy hit the building?lol it looks staged to me. No hole's in da car," wrote Fif.

Though the longtime beef between Ross and 50 has simmered over the past year, tensions mounted at the BET Hip-Hop Awards last September after members of the G-Unit clique got into a brawl with Maybach Music Group's Gunplay. Ironically, the ceremony was the same location where 50 publicly mended fences with Fat Joe.

Rick Ross was indeed behind the wheel of his Rolls Royce when assailants reportedly fired a dozen rounds in his direction.

Following this morning's reports of Rick Ross targeted in a drive-by shooting in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, some additional details have now been confirmed. According to TMZ.com, police have announced that Rick Ross was indeed driving the Rolls Royce Phantom at the time of the shooting and subsequent accident. The star rapper's passenger was Shateria L. Moragne-el, a female companion. Authorities added that neither Ross nor Moragne-el suffered any injuries.

The suspects in the shooting are said to have fled the scene following the collision.

Further information has revealed that the Maybach Music Group founder was traveling from his birthday party at Miami's LIV Nightclub. Diddy was among the guests at the celebration. According to Wikipedia, today (January 28) is the rapper's 37th birthday.

Frank Ocean is allegedly going to make matters legal with Chris Brown after they engaged in a scuffle.

Last night, tensions between Frank Ocean and Chris Brown mounted after the two engaged in a skirmish at a studio in Los Angeles, California.

According to NY Post, the Odd Future crooner is looking to press charges against Brown for "punching him and starting an all-out brawl" outside of Westlake Studios.

Police claim that Ocean is "desirous of prosecution" and that they're looking to question Brown, who is on probation stemming from his beating Rihanna in 2009 until August 2014.

The alteraction last night stemmed from an argument over a parking spot. Following the skirmish, Ocean took to Twitter to confirm the incident and state that he wished that Everest, his dog, were there to back him up. The singers have been at odds for a while, with the two firing shots at one another by making comparisons to other singers.

Lil Boosie says he's written nearly 500 songs in jail and is planning to pen a memoir.

Even though he was found not guilty of first-degree murder in May 2012, Lil Boosie is still serving out a sentence for drug possession while behind bars. Now, in an exclusive interview with Spin, Boosie speaks on his time in jail and his plans after his release from prison.

Boosie discussed the trials of jail, saying that the love of his family and fans has helped him cope with his sentence. He also added that he feels his mission in life is yet to be completed, and that his time in jail has driven him to reinvent himself as both an artist and a person.

"I've coped by knowing in my heart that I'm someone special who many people love. If you lose hope in yourself, you'll make your time hard," he said. "I always felt that my mission wasn't complete. I feel I haven't reached the star power that was destined for me. That makes me keep writing and thinking of ways to better myself as a man and artist...this situation forced me to look at things differently. I had to suffer to learn things about myself, those surrounding me, and God. He put me through this pain for me to come back stronger."

Boosie also spoke on his post-prison plans, saying that he's written close to 500 songs that he believes to be some of the best of his career. He also discussed his plans to pen a memoir, titled The Truth, No Lies. 

"I have about 500 songs at the moment," he said. "I feel that I'm making the best music I've ever made. The more I go through in life the better my music gets and it's been crazy the last three years. I keep my music heartfelt and stick to making real music. I wouldn't even say it's Hip Hop music. My music is 'reality rap.' Hip Hop music can make you dance and bob your head, but it can't make you cry or touch your heart like reality rap."

Of his memoir, he added, "I just felt the world needed to hear my life story so those who don't understand certain things that I rap about, like the struggle, will understand that it's the struggle that made me who I am today. I want people to know that it's bigger than rap with me. I have a good heart. I want people who never took the time out to listen to me, to give me a chance."

As previously mentioned, Boosie is currently serving an eight-year sentence for attempting to smuggle codeine, ecstasy and marijuana into jail. It is unknown when the Baton Rouge rapper will be let out of prison, although his attorneys estimate he could be released this summer.

Future has officially crossed over to the big leagues because everybody is talking about his baby moms going in on Ciara. I personally ignored this for the first few times i heard about it. Who cares about the disgruntled baby moms? Then, they discover Twitter and forget their ratchet behavior is logged in at the library of congress. Anyway, there’s something brewing here now.

But this is simple.

The baby moms alleges that CiCi STOLE her man from her. STOLE. Like he was a DVD at Best Buy. STOLE.

That sounds like a threat and a promise!

Anyway, according to Urban Belle, there relationship was over before it got started with Ciara.

In an interview with Hot 107.9′s DJ J 1, Future said:

“We are at a time where, I am on Epic, she’s on Epic, I love music, she loves music. And we love being in the studio with each other. We love being around each other and that’s just what it is. The chemistry is there. It’s amazing. She makes me happy, I make her smile.”

According to Media Take Out, Chris Brown’s Angels got into it on Thursday. Rhianna stepped to Karrueche on Thursday at a Los Angeles club called Playhouse. Apparently, RiRi got a tip that Chris Brown’s on and off girl Karrueche was at the spot. Who knows why she was on K’s bra strap so hard, but she was – reportedly. Anyway, RiRi reportedly came to the club and went to K in VIP like WHAT. An MTO source said: “Rihanna didn’t yell or act beligerant or anything, she just said, ‘So you wanna TURN UP rice cakes.” Why Rihanna uses these racist terms for Karrueche is beyond me, but they say she does. Anyway, another source said, “We were all stunned that Rihanna was so bold. Karrueche just turned away and tried to ignore her. Rihanna’s friend [Melissa] was just there laughing.” Rihanna just left the club. Sounds like a fail to me.

Chris Brown….On Mad Drugs?

The word on the street is that people are concerned that Chris Brown is on drugs way too much. Honestly, I thought he was just touched. Nothing wrong with being touched, but when you couple that with drugs, stuff happens. Seems like people are concerned and worried. I gotta admit, CB does have “the meth look.” Unfortunately, “they” are mostly concerned with staying in CB’s good graces that forcing him to look at these hard choices.

Can’t say I didn’t see this coming. Young white, talented rapper signs to his idol’s label only to find out all is not perfect. Well, that’s what I have been hearing for a minute about Yelawolf. Like many of my rumors, I didn’t say a lot. But, basically I am hearing that Yelawolf has been unhappy for sometime now, but has a tremendous amount of respect for Eminem. So, much that he stayed in a bad situation that wasn’t benefitting him as an artist.

Now, I’m hearing that things have changed. Hearing Yela is seeing life as it is. He’s getting older and he’s seen also what the boy Machine Gun Kelly has done. He’s got a kid and he’s looking to handle his…and that means leaving Shady. Not totally sure about the paperwork, but heard he’s gone (or trying to be gone). If this is true, I can’t blame him. Yelawolf is dope! I once theorized that Eminem got Yela off the market, because he was coming up so crazy. I don’t know. Stranger things have happened to a young rapper.

LL Cool J reflects on being abused as a child on "Oprah's Next Chapter."

LL Cool J has opened up about being abused as a child, speaking with Oprah for "Oprah's Next Chapter." During the interview, he explained how his mother's friend used to beat him as a youth, kicking him out into the snow without clothes on and hitting him with household objects.

"A friend of my mother's. it wasn't sexual it was just beating, take all your clothes off. Kicked out in the snow, 'Stay outside,'" he recalled. "Just beaten with vacuum cleaner pipes. Just stripped naked, put your hands on the bunkbed. When you fall down, stand back up."

The veteran rapper is currently prepping the release of his thirteenth studio album Authentic Hip-Hop, which he announced last November. It is currently unclear if that release date still stands.

50 Cent doesn't think he, Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo are linking up again anytime soon.

Completely contrary to what he said just weeks ago, 50 Cent says a reunion with Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo to form G-Unit probably won't happen.

"Probably not," admitted Fif in an interview with Ear Candy Mornings on Sirius Hip-Hop Nation. "I don't know. You have people that go in different directions.

"If you have grown men involved in business transactions who are around each other... I've offered everything I could offer to G-Unit," he continued. "I allowed them to be in front of an audience the entire time, to develop their own fan base, to recognize their attributes and their defects at that point. What do you do?"

"I don't care what other people want. I give a fuck what they want," concluded 50 bluntly. "A reunion? You can kiss my motherfucking ass as far as that's concerned."

Timbaland is unhappy with American Home Assurance Company.

Timbaland has a bone to pick with his insurance company.

According to TMZ, Timbo has filed a lawsuit against American Home Assurance Company last month, claiming he paid over $50,000 to take out a policy in May 2010.

One of the items covered under the policy was a Jacob & Co. 18K white gold watch, complete with 30 carats of diamonds. In the suit, he claimed that he lost the watch in August 2010 and filed a claim with AHA, even testifying under oath that it was missing. Apparently the company has denied his claim.

Interestingly, Timbaland reported the watch as stolen two years ago. In the lawsuit, he states he believes his daughter "picked [the watch] up and played with it until she became bored and discarded it somewhere," and claims "it has never been found."

Timbaland is currently in the studio working with Justin Timberlake on his upcoming third album The 20/20 Experience, and recently teamed up with 50 Cent and SMS Audio as an investor partner in the company.

Juelz Santana got sentenced to two years probation after copping a plea deal.

Rapper Juelz Santana has been sentenced to two years probation for threatening his neighbor.

According to Cliff View Pilot, his neighbor, whose name has not been released, initially intervened when Santana was beating his girlfriend and phoned the police in Englewood, New Jersey. He claims that Santana has since "threatened me with death" and was going to "kill me," causing "problems in my marriage [and] my personal life. ... I had to move out of fear. I pay more rent now. I've been having problems with my wife."

The Dipset member, who appeared in court yesterday and said nothing to the judge, dodged a prison sentence by entering a plea deal that "substantially" reduced possible penalties. The plea deal stemmed from three charges, two of which involve assaults. "One is an allegation against his girlfriend, the mother of his children," said Assistant Bergen County Prosecutor Jessica Gomperts. "The second was an innocent bystander who intervened when James assaulted her."

Santana only pleaded guilty to a single third-degree count of threatening the neighbor, who Gomberts says was "terrorized." The rapper was allowed to keep his driver's license because he needs it for work. “Probation would be a positive factor for the defendant,” said Superior Court Judge James Guida, “and incarceration an excessive hardship.”

Juelz, who recently dropped his God Will'n mixtape, isn't in the clear just yet. He is still facing charges stemming from a police raid on his "Santana's World" studios in Bergenfield two years ago, when cops found two loaded 9mm handguns, boxes of ammunitions and 17 dime bags of marijuana. He was also arrested for making terrorist threats and disorderly conduct in November 2011.

Justin Timberlake sets a Spring release for his third solo album.

Justin Timberlake has announced the release date for his comeback album The 20/20 Experience.

In a lyric video for his single "Suit & Tie" featuring Jay-Z, the former boyband singer revealed that the LP is slated to hit stores on March 19th.

JT surprised fans with the release of his new track on January 9th, shortly after confirming that Timbaland would be producing the entirety of The 20/20 Experience. Jay-Z and Beyonce are slated to appear on the project.

The album marks Timberlake's first album in six years. In 2006, he dropped FutureLove/SexSounds, which debuted atop the charts with 684,000 copies sold.

I KNEW this was going to happen! Basically, and honestly, nobody really was rocking with Snoop Lion. Keep it real. People rolled with it, but a LOT of people quietly looked at it as a way for Snoop to get some renewed press. Last year, he dumped the name Snoop Dog as somebody in Jamaica anointed him as SNOOP LION. Then he did a DVD, an album and conversion to the Rastafari religion. But did he? Here is what TMZ is reporting. Folks are threatening Snoop!

Snoop Lion, nee Snoop Dogg, has done the seemingly impossible — pissed off a bunch of ganja smoking Rastafarians — who claim he lied about becoming a Rasta just to make a movie and sell records … and now they’re threatening to sue.
Bunny Wailer — an original member of Bob Marley and the Wailers — tells TMZ he’s heated about the docu-film “Reincarnated” … which documented Snoop’s immersion in the Rasta culture as he recorded his first reggae album in Jamaica last year.

Wailer claims Snoop has engaged in “outright fraudulent use of Rastafari Community’s personalities and symbolism” — and has failed to meet “contractual, moral and verbal commitments.”

And it’s not just Bunny who feels burned — leaders of something called the Ethio-Africa Diaspora Union Millennium Council (aka Rastafari Millennium Council) — fired of a 7-page demand letter to Snoop.

In the docs they claim to have made it clear to Snoop that “smoking weed and loving Bob Marley and reggae music is not what defines the Rastafari Indigenous Culture!”

Bottom line … they want Snoop to stop using the name “Lion” … pay up the “financial and moral support” they claim he committed, and issue a public apology.

If Snoop refuses — FIRE WILL BUN FI HIM!! Or in layman’s terms … they’re gonna sue his ass. We called Snoop for comment, and so far no word back.

Rapper A$AP Rocky’s full-length albumLong.Live.A$AP is the #1 album in the country today (January 23).

According to Neilsen SoundScan, A$AP Rocky’s debut album moved 139,000 copies in its first week in the stores, easily besting the closest competitor, which was children’s albumKidz Bop 23.

Kidz Bop 23 managed to sell 78,000 copies during its first week out, earning the #2 position.

Billboard reports that A$AP Rocky’s Long.Live.A$AP is the first debut album to top the charts in over a year.

2 Chainz accomplished the feat in September 2012 with his debut album Based on a True Story, although even had made the charts as Titi Boy in the group Playaz Circle.

Alicia Keys set off the Official Inaugural Ball by tweaking one of her hit song’s to mark the occasion.

She crooned, “Obama’s on fire!” to the tune of her song “Girl On Fire” before a large group of Barack Obama supporters.

And, the New York-bred songstress set the tone for an evening of celebration for the 44th president’s second inauguration.

“He’s got both feet on the ground, and he’s not backing down,” Keys continued, “[he's] filled with catastrophe and knows he can find a way.”

Stevie Wonder, Brad Paisley, Maná, fun, John Legend and DJ D-Nice joined in the entertainment to the satisfaction of the ball attendees.

Stevie also altered certain hit records and tailored them to the occasion. He also sang his ode to Martin Luther King, Jr., “Happy Birthday.”

Later on, Obama and the First Lady were serenaded by Jennifer Hudson as they slow danced before the audience.

The pair seemed to genuinely enjoy the moment as they took in a rendition of Al Green’s “Lets Stay Together.” Towards the end of the evening, actor Jamie Foxx would sing for vice-president Joe Bidden and his wife, Jill.

D-Nice kept the party jumping with a very eclectic mixture of songs from different eras of pop, soul, Hip-Hop and R&B.

According to reports, another event is slated for Tuesday, which will feature the likes of Lady Gaga and Jay-Z.

Roughly 800,000 people descended on Washington DC to see Barack Obama sworn in as president for a second four-year term.

Rapper Chief Keef is being sued by a 15-year-old girl, who claims he impregnated her.

The teen filed a lawsuit against Chief Keef for child support, medical expenses and insurance.

According to reports, Chief Keef was 15 years old when the girl became pregnant with his daughter.

While no charges are expected to be filed against the rapper, it is illegal for two people under the age of 17 to have sex in Illinois.

When it does happen, the older person involved is usually charged with a misdemeanor for “criminal sexual abuse.”

The news comes amidst a lawsuit against Chief Keef, born Keith Cozart, for missing a show in London on December 29.

The rapper is currently serving a 60 day jail stint for violating the terms of his probation.

Amidst the festivities of President Barack Obama’s second inauguration, reports are surfacing that during the President’s ceremony yesterday, Beyonce lip-synced the “Star Spangled Banner” to a pre-recorded track.

According to Page Six of the New York Post,  a band member in the U.S. Marine band spilled the beans about the behind the scenes details on Beyonce’s hyped up performance.

“All music is pre-recorded for the ceremony because there are so many eventualities and conditions that day,” Kristin DuBois, a rep for the United States Marine Band told Page Six. “We performed, live, the band. But we received last-minute word that Beyonce was going to use the pre-recorded vocal track. Those were the instructions we were given. We don’t know what the reason why.”

While the news of a lip synched performance comes as a shock to many  in the online world , it’s not uncommon for inaugural performances to be pre-recorded.

According to DuBois, all music for inaugural ceremonies is pre-recorded as a precaution.

“That’s something we’ve done for years and years. The Marine Band did perform live throughout the ceremony but we received last-minute word that Beyoncé wanted to use the recording.”

Beyonce has yet to comment on the situation, but she did post photos on her Instagram, just days before the performance as she prepared a pre-recorded version of the national anthem

 

Trinidad James is gearing up to depart on the first headlining tour of his career.

Although his name may still be new to many Hip Hop fans, that isn't keeping Trinidad James from establishing himself as one of Hip Hop's most exciting new acts. Now, according to Rap Radar, the Atlanta up-and-comer has announced his first solo tour titled "Don't Be S.A.F.E."

To usher in the release of his upcoming single "Females Welcomed," the newly signed Def Jam rapper will embark on an 11-date tour through the Midwest and Eastern seaboard regions. The tour, which begins on February 20th in Cleveland, Ohio, marks the rapper's first headlining tour.

“I want people to understand where I come from," he said in a statement. "I’m not perfect, we may forget a word or two but we are always gonna turn up together. At the end of the day, you will always remember the experience”

2 Chainz will hit the small screen on the night after the Grammy Awards.

2 Chainz has been tapped to appear as a special guest on CBS' comedy series 2 Broke Girls.

According to THR, Tity Boi is scheduled to make a cameo as himself on February 11th, which is the day after the Grammy Awards.

On the episode, Max (played by Kat Dennings) meets a record label employee who falls for her and offers to fly her and Caroline (Beth Behrs) to Los Angeles, California for the Grammys on a private plane. The "No Lie" rapper will appear as the last passenger waiting to board the plane.

2 Chainz, who released his debut Based on a T.R.U. Story last year, was recently honored with the Street Soldier Award at the Hip Hop Inaugural Ball.

Russell Simmons says that he and his brother Rev Run didn't steal anything from Rasheed Young.

Earlier this week, fans were shocked to learn that Russell Simmons' former business partner Rasheed Young has accused Simmons and his brother Rev Run of stealing millions of dollars from their footwear venture Pastry shoes. Now, in a recent interview with TMZ, the Def Jam co-founder responds to the allegations.

Simmons refuted any of the claims that he or his brother stole Young's shares in their company. Simmons added that Young is a disgruntled former employee, and revealed that he personally had to step into to prevent Young from losing his job on multiple occasions.

"[Young]'s a nice enough guy, he worked for me," Simmons said. "I fought to keep his job a numbers of time, he didn't have a job and I went back to our partners and kept him working. I'm sorry he's disgruntled, but that's what happens. Anybody can say anything in this day and time and if a celebrity's name is attached to it, people like to sometimes believe dirt, and so it spreads…the story, it's not true."

With a 40-inch waist and 42D bust, she insists she is happy with her figure, saying: “In the past, I was self-conscious about my hips and tried milkshake diets, but they didn’t work. 
Mikel, 39 says “I was an athletic teenager and weighed 10st. I never had problems with my weight, although big hips do run in the family. My mum, gran and great gran all have them but theirs aren’t as big as mine. After having Andrew(her first son) in 1994, I went from 13st and a size 16 to 17st and a size 20 and couldn’t shift it. And, as three more children  Destynee, 13, Autumn, nine, and Justyce, seven  followed over the next decade with Reggie, and I reached a size 30st and a size 32″. 

She says: “I put it down to my pregnancies. I don’t see why else the weight would go to my hips, although, I do eat lots.”

Mikel vows she’ll never diet, Mikel says her husband of 10 years, Reggie Brooks, 40, a computer technician, adores her figure.

Mikel, 39, says: “I love my shape and I see no reason to diet because I don’t have health problems. I love Mexican food, English breakfasts and chips. My husband finds my shape sexy and we have an amazing time in bed – there’s no position we can’t do! He tells me I’m beautiful every day. Men don’t fancy skinny girls, they like an hourglass figure.” 

Mikel who’s only  5ft 4 has to shuffle through doors sideways, has steel supported chairs at home and drives a truck as she can’t fit into a car. She even sleeps in a 7 feet wide bed.

Atlanta rapper Shawty Lo was handcuffed and detained in Atlanta yesterday.

According to DJ Smallz, who posted a picture of the incident, Shawty Lo was detained in an Atlanta mall for unknown reasons.

This has been a busy week for Shawty Lo.

His reality show “All My Babies’ Mamas” on Oxygen was canceled, due to protests from a number of special interest groups.

Robert F. Chew, best known as Proposition Joe on HBO’s The Wire, passed away on Thursday according to The Baltimore Sun at the age of 52.

Former cast members and celebrities took to Twitter expressing condolences and shock of the news.

“R.I.P To My Brother Robert F Chew AKA Prop Joe from The Wire…Love You Man You Gave Me A lot of WISDOM”, The Wire’s Tray Chaney (Poot) wrote on Twitter.

Jamie Hector (Marlo Stanfield ) tweeted, “I didn’t want to believe this #RIP Robert F Chew,”  on  ”Prop Joe will always be remembered Robert Chew will always be loved and missed!”

“RIP Prop Joe, great actor,” tweeted Russell Simmons.

Wendell Pierce expressed his condolences, “To the beloved Robert Chew, a man was real Bawlmore, and created the iconic character of “Prop Joe”, may you RIP, A teacher & friend.”

The Wire creator, David Simon, sent an email to The Baltimore Sun expressing admiration for the actor’s commitment to the arts and his community.

“Robert was not only an exceptional actor, he was an essential part of the film and theater community in Baltimore,” wrote Simon. “He could have gone to New York or Los Angeles and commanded a lot more work, but he loved the city as his home and chose to remain here working.”

Chew, served as a mentor to aspiring actors, and even coached the young actors of season four.

Born in Baltimore, Chew got his first TV break in 1997 in an episode of NBC’s “Homicide.” In 2000, David Simon created the mini-series, “The Corner”, where Chew also had a role.

Funeral services for the teacher, actor and friend will be held in his hometown of Baltimore, Maryland.

Ludacris enlists New York Jets QB Tim Tebow for a deal with his headphone company Soul Electronics.

Even though pro quarterback Tim Tebow didn't have a particularly awe-inspiring season on the New York Jets' bench, that isn't keeping the football star from expanding his brand. Now, in a recent article from Mashable, it appears that Ludacris has enlisted Tebow to design a line of headphones for his company Soul Electronics.

Earlier this week, Luda and Tebow unveiled Tebow's new line of Soul Electronics headphones at 2013 International CES conference. According to the product description, Tebow's line of headphones will feature two models - one a more sport friendly version called the Combat+, and the other made for more casual listeners called the Jet.

"I was so interested in having something comfortable I could practice on the field in before games," said Tebow. "So many headphones can feel good and sound great, but when you're warming up, they fall off and that is a big distraction. We came up with these Combat models to help you keep that focus. Game compares Dr. Dre's fabled "Detox" to Jesus, asking, "Will you ever get to see Jesus? It's like a hip-hop Jesus."

Dr. Dre has been taking his sweet time with his long-awaited and oft-delayed final solo album Detox, which has been in the works for over a decade. Game, who has worked with the West Coast veteran on the LP since the onset of his career, recently chopped it up with VIBE, discussing how fans may never end up hearing the project.

"Detox, it's like Jesus," he said. "Will you ever get to see Jesus? It's like a hip-hop Jesus."

Even after Dre released a few singles over the past couple of years, Game doesn't think that the rapper will ever release the album until he's truly satisfied with the final product.

"Dre's a hard guy to please," adds Game, also stating how his Beats by Dre company interferes with the album. "He's so critical... If he doesn't become 100 percent happy, then we'll probably never end up hearing Detox. I'll say never."

Well, there is a new development that I think will help him. I heard the dude about to have ANOTHER BABY. I don’t have the developments and I don’t know if its another baby moms. But, the word is there is another babino on the way for Shawty Lo.

Meek Mill is taking the officers involved in his November detainment to court for false imprisonment.

Back in November, it was revealed that Meek Mill was forced to miss his own release party for his album Dreams and Nightmares after Philadelphia police detained the emcee with no charges. Now, in a recent report from HipHopWired, it looks like Meek is looking for a little compensation in the matter.

Meek Mill, born Robert Williams, is apparently suing police officers Andre Boyer and Michael Varga and the city of Philadelphia over the nine-hour ordeal. He is suing for a litany of charges, including false imprisonment, civil rights violations, civil conspiracy and invasion of privacy.

The Maybach Music Group rhymer is seeking punative damages in the case.

"On October 31, 2012, at approximately 7:30 p.m., plaintiff was driving a Range Rover SUV when Philadelphia Police Officers Andre Boyer and Michael Vargas, without cause or justification, conducted a motor vehicle stop," the complaint reads. "Following the vehicle stop, police officers Boyer and Vargas handcuffed plaintiff at the scene, transported him in custody to the 22nd Police District, took photographs of plaintiff which the officers posted and published...on Instagram and other social media websites, depicting plaintiff in police custody...without being charged with any criminal activity and having caused plaintiff to miss a scheduled promotional appearance in Atlanta, Georgia."

50 Cent is taking Sleek Audio to court over an unpaid promissory note worth $261,000.

Fresh off his legal victory yesterday, it looks like 50 Cent is jumping back into the courtroom in a new case. In a recent report from AllHipHop, it appears as if the G-Unit mogul is suing his former headphone partners Sleek Audio.

According to the suit, Fif is seeking $261,000 from the company for a longstanding debt. Sleek Audio, however, is fighting the charges, saying that Fif cut the company out of their business arrangements to create a new line of headphones.

Prior to 2011's botched headphone deal for the "Sleek by 50" wireless headphones, Fiddy claims Sleek Audio signed a promissory note of $285,000 plus interest to be paid before July 31, 2011. Sleek also had the option to pay the Queens rapper after the company earned upwards of $750,000 aggregate gross proceeds.

As of now, however, 50 Cent says he has yet to be paid by Sleek. Fif did receive an arbitration award for the money owed, and is now looking for the court to confirm the award.

Chief Keef must serve two months for violating his probation stemming from a firearm incident.

Chief Keef has been sentenced to two months at Illinois Youth Center in St. Charles, Illinois for violating probation.

According to Complex, the rapper, whose real name is Keith Cozart, will serve a two-month sentence at the center after he was convicted on Tuesday. The news comes courtesy of management member Idris "Peeda Pan" Abdul Wahid.

Keef was served his sentence after prosecutors claimed that he violated his probation by conducting an interview at a gun range. They also targeted the 17-year-old for failing to complete his GED in time to meet a court order.

UPDATE: Chicago Sun-Times reports that Keef pleaded guilty with Judge Carl Anthony Walker in order him to not be sentenced to juvenile detention. He broke into tears several times, but the judge did not grant clemency for his "blatant violations of the court's order."

Following the sentencing, his manager said that Keef would release a new single today.

Rumors of an impending Outkast reunion have gotten louder this past week, when on January 12th, Frank Ocean released a remixed single entitled “Pink Matter” featuring guest verses from Andre 3000 and Big Boi. Fans of the former duo quickly became excited at the prospect of seeing – and hearing – the two of them back together.

But those hopes were dashed with a single statement from Andre 3000, who has always been more than a little reluctant at the thought of getting back together with his old partner in rhyme.

“I never want to mislead our audience – I worried that some would think these were Outkast collaborations,” he told Spin in response to the songs release. “These songs are not Outkast collaborations.”

The message also states that Big Boi’s verse was an after thought and Dre was completely , “surprised to read about these remixes.”

For his part, Big Boi has so far kept quite on the situation, choosing instead to use his Twitter account to promote his performance, alongside Indie pop duo, Phantogram, on the ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live Show’ last night.

Shawty Lo fires back at Oxygen to get his controversial reality show on the air.

After Oxygen halted production on Shawty Lo's controversial reality show "All My Babies' Mamas," the rapper has responded by creating a petition to get the series on the air.

According to RumorFix, the Southern rapper's rep Kali Bowyer says that they're going to fight back. Bowyer explains that they've received more than 123,000 emails to their Atlanta, Georgia offices wanting to save the show, and have started a petition of their own that has 153 supporters as of press time.

The show initially came under fire with a petition that amassed almost 40,000 signatures. Oxygen released a statement yesterday announcing plans to shelve the show.

Guerilla Black and several associates are in hot water for credit card fraud.

Police announced on Wednesday (January 16) that Guerilla Black was arrested in connection with a major credit card fraud investigation.

The Compton rapper, born Charles Tony Williamson, was taken into custody on Wednesday morning by local police and United States Secret Service, says according to the Manhattan Beach Police Department.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Black and four others were arrested as authorities served warrants at seven locations.

Black had previously been indicted by federal authorities in Washington on fraud charges, and was on a pre-trial release.

Guerilla Black and his associates allegedly made profits of over $20,000 a month. The alleged fraud resulted in losses at financial institutions in the U.S., England, Switzerland, and Nigeria.

Chicago rapper Rhymefest has reunited with his father, after 24 years of being apart.

Rhymefest, born Che Smith, last saw his father when he was 11 years old.

The pair was reunited after Rhymefest bought a house that was being sold by other family members, on Chicago’s West side.

Once he was settled in, Rhymefest reached out to an uncle who had a friend, who said he had located his estranged father.

“It was not until I hugged him that I realized how much I missed having a dad around,” Rhymefest said.

According to Rhymefest’s father Brian Tillman, he lost track of his son due to his drinking problem, which he is currently receiving treatment for.

“I have a drinking problem. I can admit that now. It has prevented me from doing a lot of things, including being a part of his life,” Tillman said. “I am getting treatment for my drinking and developing a relationship with my two grandkids.”

Rhymefest said he would do what he could to help his father, who is still living in the homeless shelter.

Chief Keef was incarcerated after a judge found him in violation of his probation.

Chief Keef was jailed earlier today after a judge found that he had violated his probation stemming from a 2011 incident where he pulled a gun on policemen.

According to Chicago Sun Times, the 17-year-old rapper, whose real name is Keith Cozart, went to Cook County juvenile court where Judge Carl Anthony Walker found him showing a "willful disregard" for the court. He will be held until Thursday when he will be sentenced.

The incarceration marks a victory for prosecutors who said that he violated his 18-month probation after conducting an interview at a gun range in New York last June. The incident went against judge's orders that he cannot have contact with firearms.

Keef most recently released his debut album Finally Rich, which debuted at No. 27 with 50,000 copies sold.

Legendary Miami rapper and community activist Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell will be featured on HBO’s “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel.”

The season premiere of the award-winning series examines how Uncle Luke has used his notoriety as a member of the rap group 2 Live Crew to better his community of Liberty City through youth football programs.

After a highly publicized battle with the Supreme Court over what was perceived by much of the 1990′s media as raunchy or obscene music, Uncle Luke and 2 Live Crew won their case, which thrust them into mainstream stardom and popularity.

“Don’t miss this tale of an outrageous rapper turned role model,” the narrative says.

Chief Keef was a police target after he pointed a gun at armed cops in 2011.

Details have emerged in Chief Keef's arrest in December 2011 stemming from an incident where he pointed a handgun at officers.

According to DNAInfo.com, Keef left his grandmother's home holding a coat over his hands in front of his waistband. A policeman stopped to question the rapper, who dropped the coat, flashed a blue-steel handgun and ran away.

Officers chased then 16-year-old Keef, who turned around several times and pointed the gun at them. The policemen "discharged their weapons," but missed. They caught him a half-block later and recovered the pistol, which was loaded.

Keef was charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a firearm on a police officer and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. He was also given a misdemeanor charge for resisting arrest.

The "I Don't Like" rapper will return to court later this month for a probation violation hearing for conducting an interview at a gun range and failing to complete his GED before deadline. If he in fact violated his probation, it is unclear how much time the 17-year-old would serve. In some cases, underage felons are detained with adults at Cook County jail.

Big Boi explains his political beliefs.

Contrary to the support President Barack Obama has received from artists such as Jay-Z, Young Jeezy, and Common, not every emcee voted Democrat in 2012.

In an interview with Huff Post Live, Big Boi recalled an instant when someone assumed that he voted for Obama.

Days after the highly anticipated debut of Love & Hip-Hop’s third season, one of the show’s newest characters is at the center of another drama.

Yandy Smith’s baby dady is in hot water for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a minor.

Mandeecees Harris, a 34-year-old actor on the VH1 reality show “Love and Hip-Hop,” is charged with performing various sexual acts with a 15-year-old girl and inappropriately touching her at his former home in Lodi.

Bergen County prosecutors allege that Harris asked for and received oral sex from the girl and fondled her on various occasions between September 2009 and April 2010.

He was arrested later that year and charged with aggravated sexual assault, criminal sexual contact and child endangerment.

If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison.

Harris remains free without bail. He was not present in state Superior Court inHackensack during jury selection Wednesday. Court officials expect to have a full panel of jurors by Thursday, and attorneys are scheduled to make opening remarks on Jan. 29. [NorthJersey.com]

A family squabble between Teddy Riley and one of his daughter’s seems to continue on, with the super producer’s filing of a lawsuit against his own child, Taja Riley.

While the full details of the lawsuit have yet to be filed, here’s what can be exclusively reported thus far.

Teddy Riley filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against 20-year-old Taja Riley, aka Foxx Monroe on January 9.

In 2010, Taja Riley was attempting a signing career with a group known as RaidR, featuring her two other sister Deja and Tiarra.

But the lawsuit, which was filed in California Central District Court State Court, names EMI Publishing, EMI Music Publishing, EMI Virgin Music Inc., Sony ATV Music Publishing LLC and Sony ATV Music Publishing Acquisition as defendants and not any of the other Riley children.

Readers may recall in late 2009, Teddy Riley and Taja Riley hit the gossip sites, after a wild altercation during a family gathering, at his Los Angeles mansion.

The fight resulted in six LAPD officers and a helicopter being dispatched to residence, where Teddy Riley was cuffed and restrained, because police thought he had a gun.

“My heart is heavy and it grieves me to watch it play out in the media,” Teddy Riley said in a statement shortly after the altercation, which resulted in Taja filing a restraining order against her father.

“I feel sad and humiliated that we’ve been put in a situation where it’s necessary for these details to be released to the public, as I am a firm believer that family matters should remain discreet and worked through privately together,” said the producer, who admitted that he should have “talked” to his daughters more.

It looks like Nas suffered a minor medical scare earlier today. In a recent report from Rap-Up, it was announced that the Life Is Good emcee was hospitalized this morning with vertigo.

News broke earlier today that the Queensbridge legend has been rushed to the hospital suffering from vertigo. Nas, who was slated to perform on the "Live with Kelly and Michael" prior to the emergency, took to Twitter to update his fans on his condition.

Vertigo is a motion-based disorder in which a patient experiences dizziness or a disproportionate sense of balance. Nausea and vomiting are symptoms commonly associated with the illness.

Kanye West joins a number of entertainers to auction clothes for Hurricane Sandy relief.

Kanye West has aided Hurricane Sandy relief efforts with his music by way of a benefit concert.

Now, Kanye is aiding the effort with his other passion: fashion.

Billboard reports that some of the entertainment industry's most prominent figures are joining forces for Re/Create, a series of fashion auctions held to aid in Hurricane Sandy relief.

Among the participants, in addition to 'Ye, are Skrillex, Michael Stipe (formerly of R.E.M.), Anne Hathaway, Mark Jacobs, and Kate Moss.

Kanye's contribution included an autographed pair of his signature Yeezy IIs.

"Like many New Yorkers, we were saddened by the devastation of Hurricane Sandy and motivated to help," says Re/Create on their website. "To assist the ongoing relief and rebuilding efforts we are proud to present this auction of personal, one of a kind items donated by prominent members of our creative community."

A 90-year-old woman was shot three tiems in East New York, Brooklyn. It happened at around 4:25 p.m. near the intersection of Blake and Miller Avenues.

The victim, who police say was shot twice in the arm was taken to Brookdale Hospital and remains in stable condition.
Officials say the woman was with her home health attendant at the time of the shooting. She was shot and hit in the elbow.

The streets of East New York were cordoned off with crime scene tape Wednesday night, and what a crime it was. Think of all Gloria Johnson has seen in her 90 years, but she never saw this coming. On the way to the Laundromat she was shot twice.

“She didn’t know she’d been shot until she saw the blood,” said Ellen Johnson, the victim’s granddaughter.

Stephan works at a nearby deli and he came out to help Mrs. Johnson.
“She couldn’t talk, she’s was just nervous like shaking. She saw the blood and that’s when she got worried too much,” said Stephan Ali, an eyewitness.
Police believe the 90-year-old woman was caught in a gun battle between two people who had a beef that had nothing to do with her. But people in the community were not eager to hear any excuses.

“Shame on you for busting shots at 90-year-old ladies, shame on you, embarrassing that this has happened in our community. It’s bad enough that we are going through enough troubles in life, to have a 90-year-old lady shot in our community,” said John Rodriguez, a resident.
This as the governor and lawmakers are considering new gun laws.

“Folks in Brooklyn, in Queens, in Manhattan, in the Bronx are dying out here. Our young people and now our elders are being shot with these illegal handguns and this has to stop today,” said Tony Herbert, a community activist.

Three generations of family members are just happy Mrs. Johnson is OK.

“She’s fine, she wants to go home actually. She’s strong, she’s been through a lot and we just need your prayers,” said Stacey Holt, the victim’s granddaughter.

Sources say a silver car, belived to be an Acura, pulled up near the intersection and fired at a group of people standing at the corner of Blake and Miller Avenues.

Police say the victim was not the intended target.

He’s apparently and reportedly secured Jay-Z to feature on this highly anticipated new song he’s about the release. Nobody knows for sure so this is just a rumor right now. It has already been revealed that Justin has been in the studio with Jay’s beloved Beyonce. Nothing is confirmed, but some have suggested it could be all three on one song. Sounds like overkilled to me but thats what these people do.

Lawyers for Warner Brothers and former drug kingpin/community activist Freeway Ricky Ross faced off in court yesterday (January 9), in downtown Los Angeles.

Both sides were in Superior Court, for a hearing in the ongoing battle over the name “Rick Ross.”

Judge Rita Miller finally set an August date for a trial by Jury, to hear the lawyers’ arguments regarding the case.

Freeway Ricky Ross told AllHipHop.com that he would be deposing some of the industry’s biggest executives in the case, all of whom are associated with the rapper Rick Ross.

“We will be deposing Sean Combs, Stephen Cooper, Lyor Cohen and Todd Moscowitz,” Freeway Ricky Ross told AllHipHop.com today (January 9).

Freeway Ricky Ross claims that despite the ongoing court battle, Rick Ross is still flagrantly ripping off his image.

The rapper recently revealed the title of his upcoming sixth album will be titledMastermind.

According to Freeway Ricky Ross, the rapper continues to subtly, or not so subtly associate himself with words, images and phrases that will fool fans – or search engines.

“He uses Mastermind that’s exactly how the Wall Street Journal described me and my life story,” Freeway Ricky Ross pointed out to AllHipHop.com.

Rick Ross dropped a slick trailer for his new album Mastermind earlier this week.

It featured Curtis Mayfield’s classic “Gimme Your Love,” along with a shot of the cover from the soundtrack to the 1972 movie “Superfly.”

“This guy is literally trying to have people confuse him with me as an actual person,” Freeway Ricky Ross told AllHipHop.com. “In every interview I mention ‘Superfly’ as the movie that pushed me into powder cocaine. I even said it in the VH1′s ‘Planet Rock: The Story of Hip Hop and The Crack Generation,’ that was shown around the world. Then he comes out with this new video with the ‘Superfly’ movie cover as the centerpiece?”

Rick Ross the rapper, born William Leonard Roberts III, has been the subject of a trademark infringement lawsuit since June of 2010.

Freeway Ricky Ross is a former drug kingpin with a cult following, who served over 25 years in prison.

He was convicted of heading up a large-scale drug empire in the 1980s and nineties, that was infamously tied to President Ronald Reagan and the Iran-Contra Scandal.

The staggering amounts of drugs that Freeway Ricky Ross pushed around the countryhave been the subject of numerous documentaries and news articles, including the Pulitzer prize-winning series from the San Jose Mercury titled “Dark Alliance” by Gary Webb.

Freeway Ricky Ross’ original $10 million lawsuit claimed that rapper Rick Ross used these sources to steal his image and turn it into a multi-million dollar brand.

That lawsuit was dismissed in November 2010, when a judge ruled that Freeway Ricky Ross could not have used his illegal activity to trademark the name “Rick Ross” in the first place.

Freeway Ricky Ross appealed the ruling, but lost another round in court on a technicality in March of 2012, when a judge ruled that he waited too long to file a new lawsuit.

In July of 2012 he was granted an appeal to file a case against Warner Music, the label that markets the rapper’s Maybach Music Group, which features artists like Wale, Meek Mill, Gunplay, Triple C’s, Stalley and others

“The use of my name and image helps him in internet search globally. Its career launching high value to be believed to be the only hip hop artist on this list,” Freeway Rick Ross told AllHipHop.com. “Initially it grounded his career in the confusion, now it helps clean up the inauthenticity that came out about being an officer. I don’t need my name and image diluted and confused that way without license. The use of the ‘Superfly’ movie in this new video is directly connected with me personally as said prior.”

A Jury will hear arguments from both sides in Los Angeles Superior Court, on August 27.

“We feel good about our case, and look forward to letting an LA jury make the decision,” Freeway Ricky Ross told AllHipHop.com.

After this week’s outburst against the Boston Celtic’s Kevin Garnett, Carmelo Anthony not only was suspended for one game but seems like he and wife La La are working to strengthen their relationship.

During Monday’s game in Boston, Garnett — well known for on court trash talking — allegedly whispered to Melo that his wife “tastes like Honey Nut Cheerios.” Rightfully so, Melo lost it.

Sources close to the couple assure that there has never been an issue of infidelity but work has kept Melo and La La on opposite sides of the country.

“It is true they haven’t seen much of each other in the past few months,” says a friend of the couple. “She’s been away a lot filming her show, ‘La La’s Full Court Life,’ in London, New York and LA. They are not separated and are still together. She and Melo have a house in LA — so she’s always there when she’s doing auditions.”

But others say they’ve been going through a more rocky period. “They have been living separately for several months now,” says a source. “She’s been living in LA while Carmelo has been in New York.” The source added, “La La used to go out to the games and wanted to be seen . . . now she’s always off doing her own thing.” [NY Post]

Melo has already gone on record stating that he and Garnett were able to address the issue over the phone. No sightings of Melo and La La together yet but her VH1 cameras are sure to capture them for the new season of “La La’s Full Court Life.”

Gun violence has been in the hearts and minds of Americans from sea to shining sea in recent weeks, after the shootings in Newtown, Connecticut that killed 20 children and six adults.

Today, the wave of gun violence continued, just as a hearing with Vice President Joe Biden regarding the White House’s new “Gun Violence Task Force” was under way.

News is breaking across the wires and social media that a gunman infiltrated a school in Taft, California and people had been shot.

According to CNN local police are reporting that one student, a 16-year-old, fired at two students with a 12-gauge shotgun, critically wounding one and missing the other at Taft High School earlier this morning.

The 16-year-old suspect is a student who missed the start of his first class Thursday morning.

He entered the school in the middle of first period, walked into class and shot a 16-year-old fellow student with a 12-gauge shotgun, Kern County Sheriff Don Youngblood told reporters.

The shooter then fired at a second student, but missed, according to Sheriff Youngblood.

The teacher in the class tried to usher almost 30 students out of the class and engaged the shooter in conversation, according to Sheriff Youngblood.

That teacher and another person, a “campus supervisor”, continued to talk to the shooter, and eventually the shooter put the shotgun down, Youngblood said. Police officers then arrested the shooter.

The wounded student was then airlifted to a hospital.The teacher was apparently struck in the head by a pellet, but appeared fine, Kern County Sheriff Don Youngblood told reporters.

Besides the student who was shot, a second student was taken to the hospital with possible hearing damage because the gun was fired so close to her.

A third student apparently was hurt when he or she “fell over tables” trying to leave the classroom.

Classes are expected to resume on Monday, an official said at a news conference in Taft.

While at "The Usual Suspects" on PNC Radio, Prodigy says he oeloves Mobb Deep, despite the group(TM)s current hiatus.

In 2012, news of Mobb Deep’s hiatus broke in a most unceremonious fashion—via Twitter. After initially denying a series of derogatory and homophobic posts were aimed at Prodigy, Havoc later stated that he was indeed the source and that the group was on hiatus. And while their respective solo careers roll on, Prodigy took to PNC Radio’s “The Usual Suspects” to reveal all hope is not lost for fans of Mobb Deep.

“Yeah, I’m sure about that,” Prodigy replied, when asked if he’ll ever record with Havoc again. “I love Mobb Deep…Mobb Deep made my life what it is. Havoc feels the same way, so we’ll be right back to work. For right now, he’s doing his thing and I’m doing my thing. I’ve got goals I’m trying to accomplish, and I really can’t let nothing sidestep me or get in the way of that. If that means I gotta put Mobb Deep on standby for the time being, then so be it.”

Comedian Katt Williams continues to be mired in legal issues, after missing a court date in Sacramento.

The comedian was arrested late yesterday evening (January 8) in front of his Los Angeles home, after missing court earlier in the day.

According to TMZ.com, Katt Williams was arrested for failing to show up to an arraignment for a chase on a three wheeler, which occurred in November.

During the November 25 incident, Katt Williams allegedly eluded pursuing police officers, who had observed the comedian driving the vehicle on the sidewalk.

He refused their commands to stop and police called off the pursuit, due to public safety concerns.

Katt Williams is being held on $100,500 bail.

On December 28, Katt Williams was arrested on suspicion of felony child endangerment, after authorities allegedly found his children in the presence of drugs and guns.

Williams is currently free on $100,000 dollars bail for that incident.

Katt Williams addressed the guns and drugs during a video interview with TMZ.com.

“If the police come in and raid my place and break into my gun boxes, you’re gonna find guns! I’m not in a gang, what difference does it make?”

Katt Williams admitted to having marijuana, but claimed that “weed is not a drug.”

UPDATE: Katt Williams has been released from jail last night. He explained that he missed the court date in Sacramento, because he had a hearing the same day, over custody of his kids.

The year starts off with Kendrick Lamar's "good kid, m.A.A.d city" leading the pack for Hip Hop on the charts, with T.I. not far behind.

T.I. and Kendrick Lamar set off 2013 by going back-to-back on the charts. After Tip's Trouble Man: Heavy is the Head had an impressively strong debut on the charts two weeks ago, he is edged out only by Kendrick Lamar on this week's SoundScan, with good kid, m.A.A.d city pulling ahead by one spot at No. 14.

Further down the chart, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' collaborative debut The Heist continues to post numbers following the success of their breakout single "Thrift Shop," which was certified platinum this week. Wiz Khalifa's O.N.F.I.C. slipped further down the charts, dropping from No. 22 to 33, while 2 Chainz's Based on a T.R.U. Story bumped up from No. 47 to 39.

The first week of the New Year wasn't as strong for Hip Hop as usual, mostly due to the fact that there haven't been any major releases in the past few weeks. Check below to see where this week's albums sit.

Kendrick Lamar Perseveres With good kid, m.A.A.d city

Even leading into the New Year, Kendrick Lamar's success story proves to be one of music's greatest products of 2012. After initially bowing at No. 2 with 242,000 copies sold following its release on October 22nd, good kid, m.A.A.d city leads the pack for Hip Hop releases on this week's chart, moving up from No. 17 to 14 with 36,000 copies sold. It was just hundreds of copies ahead of Tip's Trouble Man: Heavy Is The Head, which is gradually heading towards gold certification. K. Dot's bump on the charts could have something to do with the recent release of his music video for "Backseat Freestyle," which was inexplicably removed from YouTube after less than 24 hours on the web.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Hijack The Charts With The Heist

While Kendrick Lamar could be considered 2012's greatest success story, Seattle's Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are looking to be 2013's. The pair independently released their collaborative full-length debut The Heist back in October, making a strong bow at No. 2 with 78,000 copies sold. Based on the success of their now platinum-certified lead single "Thrift Shop," the guys continue to reign on the charts, surging from No. 46 to 21, even though they sold 23,000 copies - only 1,000 more than last week. Still, the duo's accomplishments show that major label backing may not be the way to go for artists on the rise.

Shawty Lo explains how his family grew so big.

Shawty Lo surprised the Hip Hop community with the announcement that his upcoming reality show All My Babies' Mamas focused on his life with 10 babies' mothers and 11 children.

During an interview with MTV News, the Southern rapper explained that he would never snub his family and always provides for them. "You can hate all you want to, I didn't ask for it. It just happened. Now that it happened, I'm supposed to turn my back against it?" he said. "If I wasn't taking care of my kids then you would really dog me out, but I'm taking care of my kids, providing for my family. I don't know what else to say."

The "Dey Know" spitter said that he developed such a big family because he was a big drug dealer in Atlanta, Georgia, and women flocked to him. After he felt that "a girl was your girlfriend or whatever, rubber probably came off," thereby explaining the multiple pregnancies.

Even though it's a lot to juggle, Lo says that it's top priority to take care of those around him. "Even if you ain't got the money, you gotta be a father to your child. You need to be in your child's life, 'cause that means a lot to them," he said. "Comin' up, we didn't have Thanksgiving, we didn't have Christmas, but if I had my father there, if I even had my mother there, I probably wouldn't have been that person I was in the streets."

The DJ was gunned down back in 2011 while on his way to buy marijuana

New York City deejay and on-air personality DJ Megatron, born Corey McGriff was fatally shot this morning in the city's Staten Island borough. Megatron had worked for both HOT 97 (97.1 FM) as well as BET's 106 & Park in his career.

The New York Daily News reported that Megatron was gunned down in the Clifton section, although arrest and detailed information is pending. At present, NYPD spokespeople have said no eyewitnesses were found.

Megatron was a father of three children.

UPDATE: According to police, Corey "DJ Megatron" McGriff was shot down while talking to a friend on his cell phone on his way to buy some weed and a cigar. Police are still investigating the reason behind the shooting, if any. They're also seeking information on three young men who fled the scene. 

McGriff, a father of three, allegedly left his four year old child home alone.

UPDATE #2: Twenty-two-year-old William Williams, who fatally shot DJ Megatron in the chest back in 2011, has been sentenced to 21 years in prison as part of a plea bargain. If he hadn't, he could have faced trial on a second-degree murder charge and 25 years to life behind bars. 

“After careful reflection and thought, my client decided this was in his best interest,” Williams’ lawyer, Mario Gallucci, told NYDN.

Nicki Minaj has joined forces with Kmart to launch a new clothing line this year.

It looks like "American Idol" isn't the only side venture that Nicki Minaj has lined up for 2013. In a recent report from AllHipHop, it was announced that the YMCMB emcee has teamed up with Kmart to launch a new clothing line.

Sears Holdings, owner of Kmart and its affiliate website ShopYourWay.com, has enlisted Minaj and Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine to launch a series of new clothing lines. Minaj's line will boast a variety of lifestyle products, including apparel and accessories.

“I am so excited to work with this iconic, mass retailer and to bring affordable fashion to my beautiful barbz all across the US," Minaj said in a statement.

Imran Kooma, the executive vice president and president of Marketing and Online of Sears Holdings, echoed Nicki's excitement, saying, “We are thrilled to align Kmart and Shop Your Way with two of America’s superstars. We welcome Adam and Nicki into our world and look forward to capturing their energy and creativity on ShopYourWay.com and translating it into unique apparel, accessories and other merchandise.”

Both Minaj and Levine's clothing lines will debut towards the end of 2013.

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian drop a lump sum on a new home.

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are making big moves following the announcement that they're pregnant with their first child.

According to TMZ, the couple dropped $11 million on a mansion located in Bel Air, California. The 10,000-square-foot home is situated in a private gated community, and they purchased it several weeks ago.

Now, they're renovating the abode and expanding it to become a custom 14,000-square-foot property. It will be an Italian-style villa with a "gym, movie theater, full hair and makeup salon, bowling alley, basketball court, indoor and outdoor pool."

Shyne and Meek Mill took part in a brief Twitter spat over the weekend following the release of "R.A.I.D."

Through his beef with Cassidy, it appears that Philadelphia spitter Meek Mill has found himself in a feud with yet another artist. Earlier in the week, the Philly emcee exchanged words with fellow rapper Shyne on Twitter after Shyne allegedly praised Cassidy’s record “R.A.I.D.”

"Ayo @OriginalShyne I see u hate all the young niggas that's out here getting! I can't respect ya for that…A @OriginalShyne talkin about shout out 2 a nigga that's no good in the hood..I'm in my hood right now..iced out foreign whips..That's not G,” said Meek Mill in two separate Tweets made on January 6.

Shyne quickly responded to the comments Meek made via Twitter by calling out the rapper’s ties with Rick Ross who he compared to former undercover FBI agent Donnie Brasco and Ice T’s character from New Jack City.

“@MeekMill Your great wit the raps! You in the streets, ok! But your boss is Donnie Brasco! Ice T from new jack city! How u justify that,” Shyne questioned on Twitter.

After a series of exchanges, the online squabble between the two rappers seemed to settle down with Shyne saluting Meek as a “street general living by the rules of honor & integrity.”

Shyne previously made headlines due to his issues with Kendrick Lamar and also Rick Ross who he criticized due to the release of Ross’ The Black Bar Mitzvah mixtape.

Snoop Dogg, Nas and others take the top Complex's "50 Greatest Guest Verses Of All Time" list.

It's a debate that has long plagued the most ardent of Hip Hop fans: who has delivered the greatest guest verse of all time. Now, Complex has come through with a list that awards Nas, Snoop Dogg and others with the best guest features of all time.

Complex recently compiled a list with the 50 greatest guest verses in Hip Hop history. Although artists like R.A. the Rugged Man on Jedi Mind Tricks' "Uncommon Valor: A Vietnam Story" and Method Man on the Notorious B.I.G.'s "The What" took honors, it was Nas on Main Souce's "Live at the BBQ" and Snoop Dogg on Dr. Dre's "Nuthin' But a G Thang" that topped the list.

"It's a testament to the lyrical fortitude of Nasty Nas that he managed to stand-out on this track, considering that all four participants came off something lovely on this incredible posse cut (even non-rapper Joe Fatal kills it with his "written-by-committee" verse)," the article reads. "Opening up the track, Nas' debut appearance might just be the most hard-hitting debut in the history of rap...it was clear that this young upstart was about to usher in a new standard of excellence."

Of Snoop Dogg's verse, it says, "The diggy-diggy-doctor's G-Funk invasion wouldn't have been half as effective without the velvety drawl of a young Snoop Dogg.
