?Anchorman? sequel: Will Ferrell tells 'Conan' he will reprise his role of n

Stay classy, sequel lovers. Ron Burgundy is back.

Will Ferrell will reprise his role as Burgundy in a long-awaited follow-up to 2004's "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy," the actor announced during an appearance on Conan O'Brien's TBS talk show on Wednesday.

Appearing in character in Burgundy's trademark blazer and mustache, Ferrell told Conan: "I want to announce this to everyone here in the Americas, to our friends in Spain, Turkey and the U.K. - including England - that as of 0900 mountain time, Paramount Pictures and myself, Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy, have come to terms on a sequel to Anchorman."

The sequel, still untitled, will begin filming later this year with a release planned for 2013.

"Anchorman," which also featured Christina Applegate, Steve Carell and Paul Rudd, grossed more than $90 million worldwide. Fans of the movie have been waiting for years for Ferrell to step back into the eccentric shoes of the throwback San Diego TV news anchor.

For good measure, Ferrell, in character, told O'Brien that "you look like someone put a bright red fright wig on a skeleton. And chucked it out of a helicopter. I’m being kind right now.”

Most of the principal cast is expected to return for the sequel, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Ferrell and Adam McKay, who co-wrote "Anchorman," are expected to co-write the sequel as well. McKay is on board again as director.
